Atlantic Shore FAQ's

Who is Atlantic Shore?
We are a local, tournament team that acts as a stepping stone between Rec and Club lacrosse. If you aren’t ready for the travel, commitment and cost of a club, it’s a great place to start. It also doesn’t conflict with clubs, if you are already playing. We are a non-profit, hosted in Hamilton Twp. The only fees you pay are your share of tournament costs and uniforms. All our coaches are volunteers.

Who can play?
Any local JSYLL players! Including Absecon, Barnegat, EHT, Hamilton, Lacey, Lower Twp, Mainland, Margate, Stafford, Upper Twp. We exist to grow the game for our local players and show what south-east Jersey has to offer!

What is the commitment?
Players get to choose their participation. If you register for a tournament, you are expected to attend a weekly practice for the several weeks prior to the event. Additionally, practices, clinics etc are offered to grow your skills. All are free of charge.

Where and when do we play?
We focus on small sided events (6v6) so that players optimize ball touch and skill building. Though full field 12v12 tournaments are offered as well that are fun and rec focused. We do not interfere with club participation and players get to opt in and out of events. Practice is in Mays Landing. Events are in DE, PA, NJ & MD.

What is the cost?
Players purchase their uniform and pay a per tournament fee, which is calculated based on the total cost divided by number of players. Tournaments range from $600-1000 for a 6v6 (10 players) and $900-1500 for a 12v12 (20 players). Estimated cost for a family to participate in 3 tournaments: $400. A similar club experience can cost $1500-$2000.

Who makes the team?
Committed, passionate players looking to improve their skills and athleticism. New to lacrosse? That's ok! As long as you are willing to work hard to get better.

What is the goal of the program?
First, for your player to meet new friends who share her passion. Secondly, to improve her lacrosse skills and IQ and lastly, to grow the game in our area. Right now, the major clubs, training facilities and camps are all out west and filled with players from SJYLAX. When our kids go to play those programs, they are often alone, see few familiar faces and have a coaching staff focused on improving their local players. By growing the sport here at home, we encourage coaching, programs and camps to look at our area for talent. When our rec players improve, so do our high schools, opening up recruiters eyes to the Cape/Atlantic League and others.
