Meet the BSC Team


Lisa Frates
Executive Director

Lisa has extensive experience in both youth sports and in sports management. Prior to joining the BSC team Lisa served as the Program Manager for the Salt Lake City Corporation where she planned and executed events for the Salt Lake City Regional Athletic Complex including US Youth Soccer’s Region IV Presidents Cup, World Rugby, and the WCLA and the MCLA Lacrosse Championships. She was directly involved in client relations, contract negotiations, event sales, and staff management. In 2016 she was awarded the prestigious Game Changer award by Sports Connect for her efforts in the sports tourism industry. She has also served as the Executive Director for the Utah Lacrosse Association for over six years, helping to expand participation and the reach of the sport in the state.  

Lisa currently possesses a Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Lawrence University and is currently at Georgetown University’s Masters of Professional Studies: Sports Management program.  

Jonathon Colton
Boy's Director of Coaching

Director Colton has transformed the Bethesda Boy's program into one of the leading Player Development Programs in the country. Under his guidance, the club has produced several Youth National Team Players, many Regional and State Team players as well as State and Regional Championship caliber teams. Colton traveled to Holland and Brazil's Top Youth Professional Systems (PSV, Ajax and Fluminense) to help create and model after the world's best practices the elite Bethesda Player Development Program. Jonathon currently possesses a USSF National 'A' Coaches License. 

In addition to his experience as a Director of Coaching and as a coach, Jonathon played college soccer at Virginia Tech and American University.While playing Midfield his Senior Year, he led the Eagles to an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance.


Shannon Cirovski
Girl's Director of Coaching

Shannon has an extensive amount of experience both as a coach and as a player in the beautiful game. She has served as the Girl's Director of Coaching at BSC since 2015. Before her tenure as the Girls DoC Shannon served as the head coach for the University of Maryland Women's Soccer team, the United States Women's U-19 National Team coach, and George Washington University. As a player, she was capped for the United States Women's National Team 51 times and was a member of the side that won the 1991 World Cup. She was also a standout player for the University of North Carolina, winning four NCAA Championships. In college, she was a two-time first team All-American (1988 and 1989) and won the 1989 Hermann Trophy award for the nation's top college soccer player. 

She currently possesses a USSF 'A' National Coaches License and her Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Relations from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. 

Shawn Wijeratne
Director of Operations

Shawn has an extensive amount of experience both on and off of the pitch. Prior to joining the BSC team he worked as a Coach and Operations Assistant for Potomac Soccer Association and at Richard Montgomery High School where he served as the Junior Varsity Head Coach in 2008 and as an Assistant Coach for the Varsity side from 2007-2009 . He has also worked as a Trainer for Magic Moves Soccer, a Player Development Program Clinician for MSI Soccer and a Soccer Clinician for the Montgomery Sports Association. Shawn also carries a USSF National 'E' Coaches License and has a Double Major in Sport & Event Management and Commercial Recreation & Tourism from Shepherd University where he also played four years of collegiate soccer.  

 



Sean Maslin
 
 
Marketing and Communications Coordinator

Sean has covered the beautiful game for over seven years as a reporter, editor, and photographer. His work has been featured in Soccer 360 Magazine, Soccer Wire, and Prost Soccer. He has covered D.C. United, the Washington Spirit, and the U.S. Men's and Women's National Teams  and tournaments such as the Copa America, the CONCACAF Gold Cup, the International Champions Cup, and the U.S. Open Cup. His work has also been featured on National Public Radio and BBC Radio. 

In addition to his work within the beautiful game Sean carries a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from McDaniel College and a Masters in Public Policy from George Mason University. His favorite soccer player is Alan Shearer and his favorite travel destination is Greece. 

Zane Campbell
Office Manager

Zane handles the day-to-day needs of the office as well as our registrations, payments and scholarships. He will also be coordinating travel for the Club’s Development Academy teams who compete all along the east coast in the US Soccer Development Academy.  ]

Campbell, a former BSC player, has extensive experience in and outside of the game. From 2006 to 2013 he served as the Men’s Assistant Soccer Coach at Guilford College where he was the Goal Keeper Trainer and helped to recruit and retain players in addition to scheduling travel for the team. During that same period, he was also the Head Coach and Director of Goalkeeping at the Greensboro United Soccer Association. Recently, Zane worked as a Customer Service Representative for Old Line Bank in Damascus where he assisted the public with their banking needs. He also has a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and Sport Studies from Guilford.
