RULES


ROUND ROBIN GAMES

 

SCORING SYSTEM

3 points for a win

1 point for a tie

0 points for a loss

Forfeit is scored 3‐0

 

GAME LENGTHS

Age Group Length of Games:

7v7: U8-U10 ‐ 20 minute (2x)

9v9: U11-U12 ‐ 25 minutes (2x)

11v11: U13 -U10 - 30 minute (2x)

Halftimes will be 10 minutes for all age groups

 

TIE‐BREAKERS

Ties in games will not be broken. The following criteria will be used in the order listed below to break ties between teams that finish regular play with an equal number of qualifying points:

1.  Results of Head‐to‐Head competition

2.  Goal Difference: (total goals for minus total goals against)

3. Goals for

4. Goals against

* There is NO LIMIT on goals scored or allowed per game.

 

ROSTER LIMITS

 

•         U8 – U10: format is 7v7 and the roster limit is 12 players dressed for a single game; however, the pool of players during the winter league is not limited. This means there is no limits to guest players per team.

 

•         U11 – U12: format is 9v9 and the roster limit is 16 players dressed for a single game; however, the pool of players during the winter league is not limited. This means there is no limits to guest players per team.

 

•         U13 – U18: format is 11v11 and the roster limit is 18 players dressed for a single game; however, the pool of players during the winter league is not limited. This means there is no limits to guest players per team.

 

ELIGIBLE PLAYERS

•       All players and teams must be USYSA-registered for the current seasonal year 

•       Each player must have a current signed and laminated player ID card (USYSA/STYSA) available for inspection by league officials at the site of each game in which the player participates 

•       Each Player must have a signed (parent and/or guardian if under 18) medical release form

•       There is an unlimited number of guest players. All players must be on your Got Soccer roster to play in this league. 

•       All teams will be required to input all players on their tournament Got Soccer roster. 

 

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

•  The wearing of hard casts, whether padded or not, will not be permitted in Summer League games...NO EXCEPTIONS

•  No jewelry permitted.

 

REFUND POLICY

A team withdrawing from the Summer League after being accepted shall forfeit its entry fee. A team removed from competotion for disciplinary reasons will also forfeit its entry fee.

 

COMPLAINT POLICY

All complaints must undergo a 24‐hour waiting period before being submitted to Director of the Summer League in writing via email – [email protected] Complaints must be registered in writing and include the following:

1. Date and time of occurrence

2.  Detailed description

3.  Player # and team name

4.  Coach’s signature

 

PLAYERS REQUIRED

•         7‐a‐side games: a minimum of 4 players are required to play the game.

•         9‐a‐side games: a minimum of 6 players are required to play the game.

•         11‐a‐side games: a minimum of 8 players are required to play the game.

 

SUBSTITUTIONS

7v7, 9v9, and 11v11:

•  Substitutions must have referee permission in ALL cases.

•  Substitutions for BOTH TEAMS allowed:

1.  on goal kicks

2.  after a goal

3.  at halftime

• Substitutions for ONE TEAM allowed:

1.  on throw‐ins by possession team only.

2.  on stoppage due to injured player (injured player only).

3.  for yellow cards (player who received card ONLY).

4v4:

• Substitutions can be made on any stoppage of play with referee approval.

 

GAME ARRIVAL TIMES

•  Teams must be at their assigned field 15 minutes before scheduled game time.

•  Teams must be ready for inspection by referee and/or field commissioner.

•  Teams must provide player cards prior to each game.

 

GAME STARTING TIMES

•  All games START at the time shown on the schedule.

•  If a team is not ready to play within 10 minutes of the official start time the game will be recorded as a forfeit.

 

UNIFORMS: NUMBERS AND COLORS

• All players shall wear numbered jerseys, shorts and socks of like color to distinguish them from the opposing team and the referee.

 

UNIFORMS: ALTERNATE JERSEYS

•  Each team must have an alternate color jersey in case of color conflict.

•  First team listed on the schedule, “Home Team”, should change colors if deemed necessary by the referee.

 

HOME TEAM RIGHTS/RESPONSIBILITIES—All Games

•  Home team (1st team listed in a pairing or top team in a playoff tree) must provide the game ball for all games.

•  Home team has 1st choice of field playing side for their team.

 

TEAM SUPPORTERS

•                     Both team's players and coaches will sit on one side of the field. A maximum of 3 adults are allowed on the team side of the field.

•                     Team supporters must be located on the opposite side of the field from the players and coaches and must not go to the team side at any time during the game.

 

SCHEDULES

The game schedule is final as published and no changes will be permitted.

 

SCORE REPORTING

•  Referee will be responsible for providing all game reports.

•  Referees and League officials are free to check player cards prior to and at any time during a game.

•  Games will not start without an official game report.

•  Both coaches must sign game report.

•  Referee Coordinator will be responsible for turning in game reports to the league.

 

DISCIPLINE: RED CARDS

•  Player receiving a red card is banned from the game in which it was received and a minimum of the following game. Referee will write the players full name, date of birth, and jersey number on the game report.

•  2nd red card in the season to the same player results in that player’s suspension from the league.

Fighting will not be tolerated and will be punished with the player's removal from league. Team may be removed for disciplinary reason as well.  

 

 

DISCIPLINE: YELLOW CARDS

•  Player accumulating 2 yellow cards is suspended for the next game (1 game suspension).

•  A player accumulating 1 red card plus 2 yellow cards or 4 yellow cards, will be suspended from the league.

 

COACHES, PARENT & FAN CONDUCT

•  Any misconduct (cheating, verbal or physical abuse of anyone, especially the referees, etc.) will not be tolerated and will be met with swift and just punishment to include the individual and/or team being removed from the League.

•  Coaches are responsible for their fans and supporters and will be held accountable for their behavior.

 

SCOPE OF DISCIPLINARY RULES

•  Above disciplinary rules apply to Summer League games only.

•  Cases of serious misconduct will be reported to a player or team’s governing association for follow‐up action.

Any team caught using an ineligible player will forfeit the game and be placed on probation. Second offense will result in removal from league and all games forfeited.

 

REPORTING

•                     Referees are required to report all disciplinary actions taken before, during and after the game, on the official game report.

•                     All cases of serious misconduct must be reported immediately following the game during which the misconduct occurred.

 

PROTESTS

•  Referee decisions are final.

•  Protests will not be allowed.

 

RAINOUTS

•  League Directors have final decision over field conditions and game cancellations.

•  In case of rainout, games will be rescheduled if possible within league time constraints.

 

OFFICIAL GAME LENGTH

•  A full half of a game must be played to completion to be considered a complete or official game.

 

BRACKET FORMAT

Boys U11 (One group of 7): Played as six-round robin tournament. All teams will play each other once; the team with the highest accumulated points will be crowned champion. This will give all teams 6 games.

Boys U13/U14 (Two groups of 6): Played as six-round robin tournament. All teams will play each other once in their own group. The sixth game will be between group 1 and group 2 based on table placement. Example: Group 1 #1 vs Group 2 #1, Group 1 #2 vs Group 2 #2, etc. The team with the highest accumulated points will face be crowned champion. This will give all teams 6 games.

Boys U15 (Two groups of 5): Played as six-round robin tournament. Two groups of 5 teams will play a crossover bracket. Group 1 will play all teams in Group 2 once. The sixth game will be between group 1 and group 2 based on table placement. Example: Group 1 #1 vs Group 2 #1, Group 1 #2 vs Group 2 #2, etc. The team with the highest accumulated points will face be crowned champion. This will give all teams 6 games.

Boys U16 (One group of 7): Played as six-round robin tournament. All teams will play each other once; the team with the highest accumulated points will be crowned champion. This will give all teams 6 games.

Boys U17 (One group of 8): Played as six-round robin tournament. All teams will play each other once; the team with the highest accumulated points will be crowned champion. This will give all teams 7 games.

Boys U19 (One group of 4): Played as six-round robin tournament. All teams will play each other twice; the team with the highest accumulated points will be crowned champion. This will give all teams 6 games.

 

AWARDS

Only champions will receive awards. Limited to the age group's roster size.
