About the League
Since 1994, Takoma Park Silver Spring Baseball and Softball (TPSS) has been a leader in providing a quality neighborhood youth baseball and softball program for EVERY girl and boy.  We are community-oriented, volunteer led, and believe that youth sports are healthy and fun social activities that enrich the lives of local children and families.  As youth age up through our league, skill level increases, teams gel, on and off-field friendships form and meaningful baseball memories are made.

Primary Purpose and Function of Volunteer Coaches
The primary focus of volunteer coaches in coed baseball and girls softball is player development and directing players in live games. Coaches are responsible for teaching and mentoring young athletes.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Coach baseball team in a game once a week
Develop a practice plans and direct practices once a week
Teach playing rules and strategies
Provide leadership to the players both on and off the field

Knowledge and Skills Required
Available for practices (once a week) and games (once a weekend)
Motivated to mentor young athletes
Eager to understand the game of baseball or softball and the rules
Good organization skills
