Mission Statement

The SAY 4U program will strive to provide a safe, fun and essential introductory soccer foundation to the 4U members of our organization. This program will not only educate the player, it will also provide a platform for new parent volunteer coaches to become more educated and confidant as they continue coaching in the forthcoming years. The SAY Starters program will greatly increase the number of US Soccer affiliated players and coaches.

Content

The SAY Starters program is being designed to help get 4U old players to actively participate in an organized sports environment. This program has been created to get 4U -year-olds to work on their listening skills, following directions, social skills, balance, coordination and just plain have some FUN with the ball at their feet.

We need Parents to help make this work............

  • HIGH ENERGY – If we are going to have any success with this age level we are going to have to you be high energy for 45-60 minutes straight. You need to be able to act silly and goofy and be engaging the whole time. Your energy feeds those youngsters and creates how the training session will run.
  • TIME – These training session are blocked for 1 hour but don’t be afraid to just go 45 mins with them. It’s ok… they will lose focus… they are 4U!!
  • PLAY / GAME – The final part of the practice plan “steal the bacon” or other games can be implemented instead of just letting the kids play at the end. 4U-year-olds don’t really grasp the concept of “soccer” yet. This helps them stay a bit more organized, allows them to touch the ball more and ultimately creates a more FUN environment for them.
  • OPPONENTS – Feel free to still play the other team in “steal the bacon” or other game or just keep your team together. Make sure you discuss this with opposing coaches before the start of your training.
  • TEAM CHEER – Please get your teams together at the end of the training session and have them give each other high-fives and do a group cheer. This is a great time to ask them questions about what they learned, if they had fun, etc. It also gives parents a sense of closure to your practices.
  • SNACK TIME – If you haven’t organized snack time with your group, DO IT! It is our job as coaches to make sure that the kids LOVE coming to soccer. Even if a kids is having a bad day at practice, the last thing that they will remember is the snack and juice that they got after practice. They go home with a SMILE and they will want to come back!! Hey, it the little things!
