SSA DeKalb Soccer

Covid-19 Note

This Spring has landed the soccer world in an unprecedented situation due to the pandemic. The safety of our players remains our top priority. While every player, coach and club is ready to be back on the fields, the reality is that we must continue to adhere to the guidelines of our local government and health officials. As such, for the time being, there are severe restrictions on how players can come and train at the fields. Due to these limitations, tryouts would not be an effective process to assess players and place them on teams. In collaboration Ambush, AFU, Concorde, Georgia Express, GSA, LSA, NTH, Steamers FC, SSA, TYSA and UFA, have all made the difficult decision to cancel in-person, formal tryouts.

While tryouts may not be taking place in the traditional manner, teams will still be formed at this time for the 2020-21 Soccer Year.

Whether you are a current SSA player, or a new player looking to join an SSA Academy/Select team for 2020/21, please read the information below regarding the registration process.

If you are a new player interested in joining the club for the Fall 2020 season, please reach out to:

    ACADEMY (9U-12U)

The SSA Academy Program is for players looking for a high-quality training and playing environment under the supervision of experienced and qualified staff where an enthusiasm for, and a commitment to, the game is nurtured and rewarded. Players typically go through a 'tryout' assessment in late May for the entire year or in Dec or Jan for just the Spring season, though players may join at other times of the year if space is available. The program is generally regarded as the starting point for players interested in moving into our Select/NPL/SCCL/DA teams and playing HS and College soccer in the future. At the 12U age group, players are eligible to tryout for a clubwide 'Elite' team which participates in a 12U version of the SCCL League.

    SELECT (13U-19U)

The SSA Select Program represents the highest level of competitive club soccer, and slots in beneath the ECNL and NPL programs in terms of the competitiveness level of the teams. The program is coached by experienced and qualified coaches and players are assigned to teams through a series of tryouts in late May/early June to play in the different divisions of the SCCL League, though players may join at other times if space is available on a roster. Players are selected through the same tryout process as the NPL program.

    U6 - U8 PDP Program

    Player Development Program (PDA)

SSA's U6 and U8 Player Development Academy is a soccer development program which aims to accelerate the technical and tactical development of players looking to eventually participate in the U9-U12 Academy and U13+ Select programs. It is a seasonal academy-style program designed for the passionate, motivated, and advanced player who fosters the desire to be challenged in every aspect of his/her game. This program gives these players the opportunity to train in a professional environment with professional staff coaches and alongside like-minded players. In an effort to maximize player development, players are maintained in training groups and play non-results-oriented games. Players may also have the chance to represent their club when playing neighboring clubs.

SSA PDA allows players to participate on a season-to-season basis, permitting players to register for one season without committing to a full year. This provides a chance for those players who turn 8 a chance to move up and join the Academy program should this be in the best interests of the player.
