Statement on Injustice

The Tonka United family is a community that plays united, learns united and lives united. Today we are community in pain and we are deeply saddened about the killing of George Floyd, and the systemic injustice that has been happening for far too long.  We, as a club, value diversity and inclusion, standing against racial and other social injustices regardless of where it takes place. In honor of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and the innumerable lives lost, we unequivocally stand against racism.

At Tonka United, we take pride in a community that embraces ALL races, identities and lived experiences. We seek to create opportunities to inspire and develop the youth of our communities – not only as athletes, but more importantly, as people.  We must work together to continue to provide an environment where each and every player, family, coach and staff member is truly valued and supported for who they are.

We must advocate for kindness and compassion. Embrace and respect our differences. Unite and build up the common ground. Seek understanding. Become part of the solution.

While we work hard to uphold our core values of Respect, Perseverance, Community and Inclusiveness, we know that we need to DO MORE to commit to ACTION and CHANGE.  We are actively working on a variety of ideas to drive REAL CHANGE and to make our club better for our coaches, staff, players, families and our community.  We look forward to engaging with you on these initiatives.

Our commitment is to help this community turn the pain we’re all experiencing into better days for everyone.

Sincerely,

Tonka United
