Southern Soccer Academy Rebrands USL W League team as SSA Royals and announces Kailyn Deutrich

Southern Soccer Academy is rebranding their USL W League team as the SSA Royals, as the club prepares for the upcoming tryouts for the inaugural USL W league season.

As the first club to join the USL W league in Georgia, SSA is gearing up for the USL W league season with a continued vision of supporting female athletes in the pursuit of their dreams both on and off the pitch. The SSA Royals distinguish themselves from their men's team counterpart with a new name and a mission to provide an environment focused on equitable opportunities for women to play, coach, and serve as role models for young female athletes in the community. SSA has a long history of success in the soccer community, and the addition of the SSA Royals will help strengthen the positive impact Southern Soccer Academy imparts from the pre-academy to the now semi-professional level.

“I believe that SSA is an environment that helps players grow both on and off the pitch. We want to be able to provide a positive learning environment for players to gain confidence.” said first team coach Richard Foy.

In addition to the release of a new name, SSA also announced the appointment of Kailyn Deutrich as Operations Manager and Assistant Coach. Kailyn is currently serving as SSA’s Girls Academy League Assistant Director and SSA Northside’s Girls Academy Director. As operations manager/assistant coach, Kailyn will manage team planning and logistics, social media and community outreach, and serve as a liaison with other league clubs. Additionally, Kailyn will assist Head Coach Jack Coulton and other staff on the training ground to prepare the Royals to compete and perform at the highest level.

“I’m very excited for this role and am eagerly looking forward to contributing to the growth of the women’s program at SSA. The women’s soccer scene in this country is very exciting right now, and I'm happy to be a part of the initiative to develop a strong pathway for young female athletes that was virtually nonexistent when I was a developing player myself” Kailyn said.

Head coach, Jack Coulton has welcomed Kailyn’s appointment. “Kailyn is a fantastic addition to our USL W League set-up, bringing vast experience from her time as a Division I athlete and now as a coach. She is going to massively help our players on the pitch and our program off it!”.

The USL W League is set to begin in the Spring of 2022. The SSA Royals will hold tryouts on Saturday, December 18th and Monday, January 10th at Marathon Park Soccer Stadium, the recently completed development of a new state of the art, multi-million dollar soccer-specific stadium that will serve as the home of its new USL W League team. Complete with two floodlit showcase fields, a 1,000 seat capacity stand and women’s and men’s locker rooms, classrooms, and a conference center. To learn more visit www.ssakings.com
