Andy played professional soccer for twenty-three  years. He started his career with Arsenal of the English Premier League at age 16 and he turned pro the following year. He came to the United States in 1978 to play for the California Sunshine of the American Soccer League (ASL) before moving on to play for the Detroit Express. This proved to be a great move as the Express won the Championship in 1982 and Andy was named MVP of the league.

Andy played indoor for Wichita, Baltimore, and Cleveland in the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) for 12 seasons. In 1990, he became player-coach of the Detroit Rockers of the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) for four seasons, and later with the Detroit Neon/Safari for three seasons. Andy finished his career with 307 MISL goals, a tally which ranks 8th all time. In 2000 he came out of retirement to play for the Detroit Rockers , Making him one of only two players to play in four  different decades. (You can also see Andy’s jersey on display in the Soccer Hall of Fame, in New York State)  Andy has coached youth soccer since 1978. His coaching philosophy has always remained the same: “Build players, not teams; if you build the player, the teams will build themselves.
