Coerver Coaching - North Pittsburgh Camp

Coerver Coaching Summer Soccer Camp

July 31 - August 4 - Graham Park

Camp Overview:

The only official license of Coerver Coaching in Western PA since 2009.

Our curriculum is based on the Coerver Pyramid of Player Development. The philosophy being that all aspects of play are dependent upon the player’s ability to control the ball (Ball Mastery), thus it is the foundation of any player’s technical development. All other subsequent blocks of the pyramid rely on the players “Ball Mastery” to be successful. In our summer camp programs the campers are given drills, challenges, games, and exercises from each part of the pyramid throughout each day. The younger the player, the more the emphasis needs to be on the building blocks at the bottom of the pyramid

Coerver Coaching

Coerver Coaching has become the largest and most respected soccer education program in the world with an unmatched list of endorsements from national Federations, Professional Clubs, Star Players, and Leading Clubs.

Dates And Times: Camps will run from 9 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Friday. Check-in begins at 8:15 on Monday.  On other days, campers are encouraged to be at Camp a few minutes early, since we begin each day at 9 AM Sharp.

Location and Directions – You will find directions to our camps here.

What to Bring: Campers will need to bring a ball, water and sun screenPlease have a name and phone number on the ball. Campers should also bring lunch.  Please send an extra pair of shoes as well so that players can get out of their cleats during the lunch break.  Shin guards are also required and must be worn at all times on the field.  Wednesdays is “Jersey Day”, when all are encouraged to wear their favorite soccer jerseys from around the world.  Camp T-shirts will be issued on Fridays, worn Friday afternoon.  Note that days can be warm; proper hydration needs to begin several days before the start of camp.  Heat also contributes to blisters; camp is not a good time to break in new shoes.

Camp Teams: Are camps are designed to put each camper in the group where he or she will learn the most, particularly learning new soccer skills and improving existing ones.  Learning the most you can is the primary challenge for a player in our camps.

Our placement system, which we’ve now used for over 10,000 players, groups Campers into Teams with others of similar ability and experience.  Assignment begins prior to the camp by separating players by age into groups of about 12.

We do make some adjustments once Camp begins.  A player who is much stronger or weaker than the others on a Team will not get the most out of the camp in that setting.  Nor will the others in a Team where there are players of widely differing abilities.  But we only adjust the Teams as necessary a) to make sure that no player is dominating – or being dominated by – the others on the Team or b) when we believe the player will learn more in a different Team.

Campers enrolled in Advanced programs participate in several Monday morning activities which we use to affirm their proper placement in those levels of the Camp.

During the Week – Rest is Important: Days in our camps are very active.  Players need adequate rest to recover and prepare for the next day’s activity.  In previous years several players were injured doing other evening soccer activities after camp such as 3v3, fitness camps, etc.  We cannot provide a refund if players are injured at such activities.

Friday Afternoon: Finals of our Camp competitions begin at 2 PM, followed by our Awards Ceremony.  Parents are encouraged to attend that final hour of Camp.
