GAMEDAY RULES
Game format
5v5 (4 Field Players, 1 GK) 50 Minute Games (25 min Halves)
Objective of games
The objective is for the players to execute the skills they are learning during
the week in a game situation in a fear free environment (not focusing on
results, focusing on skills).
We want the players to get as many touches on the ball as
possible, and also make many soccer decisions.
Rules/Ref
We have no refs. Coaches call the game and we are pretty laid back about the
rules. We don't call every foul but use some fouls for teaching moments
(serious foul play, deliberate hand ball)
Coaches occasionally stop the game and come onto the field to
address important coaching points so the players can make adjustments right
there and then.
No offsides
No throw ins, only pass in or dribble in
GK's - can dribble in or pass in from "goal kicks", NO
PUNTING ALLOWED
On goalkicks, or when keeper catches ball,
defending team is encouraged to drop off. They can start to pressure once
nearest field player has received the ball. This is done to encourage
playing/building out of the back
Corner kicks - regular corner kicks
Substitutions - on the fly if it's just one player, if it's more than one we do
it at a natural stoppage
Parent Rules
Absolutely No Coaching From Sideline
Parent must stay behind the fence at all times
The main objective of the festival is on player development not results
so we do not expect parents to challenge any decision of the coaches.
