Competitive Basketball


2nd/3rd grade Team Hooligans won the Team Meek, 2nd/3rd grade, came in 2nd place.
championship game.

Team Raiders, 4th/5th grade, won the competitive Team Wehrli, 4th/5th grade, took 2nd place.

Team Lavory/Macleod, 6th grade, won competitive championship.

Fall/Winter Grade/Age Divisions

NEW! for 2018-2019 Competitive Basketball!

More games!  Longer Season!!  The Competitive Basketball program has modified the format of the program so that all grade level divisions (2nd-8th grade) play the entire season from November through March.

The Competitive Basketball program is currently available for 2nd through 8th graders. The players will be drafted based on a tryout process. Players must register for tryouts.  Tryouts are MANDATORY (see below for tryout schedule).  

All Competitive Basketball Games are played in Middle School or High School gyms.  This season players will receive a uniform jersey and shorts.  Sizing will take place at tryouts.

2nd and 3rd grade - 
 20-24 total games (10-12 per session).  Games begin in November.  Holiday training opportunities, year-end tournament in March, uniform included. 
$375 total   - $200 due at commitment (non-refundable commitment fee).  $175 due by November 1.   

4th grade 
– 22-24 total games (10-12 per session) Games begin in November.  Holiday training opportunities, year-end tournament in March, uniform included . 4th grade will also play other area teams that are at an appropriate competitive level.  
$400 total fee - $225 at commitment (non-refundable commitment fee) and $175 due by November 1.   

5th through 8th grade – 
24-28 total games (12-14 per session) Games begin in November.  Holiday training opportunities,), year-end tournament in March, uniform included . Teams will compete with WAA competitive teams and with DuPage County, Fox Valley, or  other area league teams that are at an appropriate competitive level.
$425 total fee -  $250 due at commitment (non-refundable commitment fee), $175 due by November 1.

Rules, Equipment & Directions


Competitive Rules

Requirements for participation include:

  • Each participant must supply their own basketball for all practices.
  • Parent participation as a hall monitor during practices is mandatory.
  • Parents must supervise children and sibling at all times, in all program facilities.
Basketball Size:
 Youth___     27.5 Intermediate 28.5 Regulation Size
 2nd -3rd 4th - 5th 6th  & up

All Competitive teams (2nd through 8th) will play using a 10 foot hoop.

2018/2019 Boys Competitive Program 

Now Play November through March!  

Tryout Fee:  $10 ($15 after Sep 10)

League Fees:  An optional payment plan is available

  • 2nd Grade - $375
  • 3rd Grade - $375
  • 4th Grade - $400 (If we combine 4/5 grades the price will be $425.  We will follow the 5th grade program description)
  • 5th through 8th Grade - $425

If player is drafted to a competitive team, an acceptance email will be sent with instructions on completing registration.  Players are not considered registered and may not participate until program registration fee is paid in full. 

If a player is not drafted, an email on registering for the recreational league will be sent with instructions and deadline on completing registration. Any special requests for team placement can be made at this time (recreational league ONLY).

WAA is a volunteer organization.  Volunteer coaches are needed for all divisions. Competitive coaches must apply: Coach Application
