EMORY UNIVERSITY VISITORS’ POLICY

MINORS AND/OR OVERNIGHT ON-CAMPUS PROGRAMMING

Policy:

Minors: Anyone under 18 years of age who participates in a sponsored program or camp on Emory’s campuses is required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Those with a medical/religious exemption or are not yet vaccine eligible are required to receive a negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours of accessing campus.

Overnight Accommodations: Anyone, regardless of age, staying in overnight campus housing as part of a sponsored program or camp is required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Those with a medical/religious exemption are required to receive a negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours of accessing campus.

Implementation Guidance

Approved COVID-19 Vaccines and Tests

Participants must have completed a COVID-19 vaccine series with a vaccine authorized by the FDA or for emergency use by the World Health Organization (WHO). Unvaccinated participants will be required to complete a negative PCR or antigen test (includes at-home tests) within 48 hours before accessing campus.

Testing Cadence

In addition to testing within 48 hours of accessing campus, unvaccinated participants must conduct a test every 7 days throughout duration of the program.

Vaccine Exemptions

Participants seeking an exemption due to a medical contraindication, as defined by CDC guidelines, or a sincerely held religious belief should attest to meeting this standard and are allowed to participate pending completion of all other requirements. No exemption review or vetting process is advised.

Verifying Requirements

Minors participating in programming (non-overnight campus housing) must attest to their vaccination status or approved exemption status and negative test result. Recommended attestation language is:

Attest to one of the following:

My [participant] will be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 at the time of the [program] start date; or

My [participant] has a medical or religious exemption, or is not yet eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, and will complete a negative COVID-19 test result within 48 hours of the [program’s] start time.

Program participants staying in overnight campus housing must provide proof of vaccination or a negative test result. An attestation is not sufficient for compliance. Vaccination records or a negative test result must be verified prior to program start, but proof of documentation is not required to be collected.

Outbreak/Cluster of COVID-19

Should an outbreak among participants occur, programs are advised to postpone or reschedule activities until conditions improve. Thresholds defining an outbreak vary; however, 10%-20% of participants concurrently testing positive is a recommended range to apply based on size, scope, and function of programming.

Isolation and Quarantine

Participants must follow all applicable isolation and quarantine protocols current at that time, as defined by CDC guidelines, should they have COVID-19 symptoms, be exposed, or test positive. Participants should complete their isolation or quarantine periods at their home locations. If a participant is unable to return home, programming staff are responsible for managing isolation/quarantine procedures and applicable services, and should plan accordingly.
