About Us

Riverside Youth Soccer Club is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded in 2002.  We are a travel soccer club for boys and girls from the Riverside Local School District in Lake County, Ohio as well as from surrounding communities.  Our purpose is to further develop players by reinforcing more advanced technical skills, tactical awareness, physical conditioning and sportsmanship by providing more advanced coaching and a competitive level of play.  We have programs starting with Little Soccer Kickers for ages 5-8 which is a non-competitive introductory and skills development program and progressing up through the U15 age group for both boys and girls. Our goal is to prepare and develop players, providing a feeder program for the Riverside High School Boys and Girls Soccer Programs.

Club History

The Riverside Youth Soccer Club was originally founded as the Concord Futbul Club by Glen Niemi and Chuck Biese in the spring of 2002.  The goal was to bring a soccer program to the community giving the kids an opportunity to play soccer within and for their community.  Initially there was one U11 boys team.  The club was truly a community effort to get off the ground.  It took the generosity of  local business providing the funding to get the club started.  George's Dinner Bell provided goals and the Baptist Church provided the fields to play on.  In the second year with the help of Sandi Ponti and Joe Imondi the club added its first girls team.

Over the years, the club has continued to evolve and grow.  The name changed to Concord Soccer Club and then to better align with the the local school district it changed again to its current name, Riverside Youth Soccer Club.  We have used fields throughout the area, the Baptist Church, Concord Community Fields and are currently using the fields at Madison Avenue Elementary School for all of our teams and activities.

With additional leadership from Armin Kiss, Dave Buckholtz, and the efforts of many other volunteers over the past 12+ years, our club has continued to grow into what it is today.  Currently we support players as young as 5 years old with a Little Kickers Program and have travel teams for both boys and girls from U8 to U14.  In 2014 we will have worked with 150 - 200 children from throughout our community.
