Board of Directors


Peter Pak, Board Chair

Peter has served on the Board since May 2013 and has been a volunteer youth coach since 2006. He has three children playing for the Club. He grew up in Atlanta, GA and over the course of his playing career earned NSCAA All-America honors and is a member of the Ohio Wesleyan University Athletic Hall of Fame. He continues to play in men’s leagues in Colorado. He is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, and served on their Board of Trustees. Peter is a partner of The Decatur Group, a private equity firm focused on investing in middle-market companies.

Mark Eastman
Mark has been a Board member since 2013, and is a longtime proponent and active supporter of the Denver community where he and his family have resided for nearly 16 years. Mark has coached all three of his children, and continues to coach his two young daughters and many of their Park Hill and Stapleton neighborhood friends. With an older son in the Club, Mark has seen the CRYSC evolve first-hand and effectively applies these experiences as a board member. Outside of youth soccer, Mark enjoys his career as a seasoned tech-marketing professional.

George Gastis
A Board member since 2013, George has a long history with CRYSC. He enjoyed coaching with his children’s in-house teams for years prior to competitive soccer. A Cleveland native and Denison University grad, he moved to Denver in 1995 and is happy raising his family in Colorado. He’s played competitive soccer through college, and continues playing in adult leagues. Professionally, George is a tech-industry veteran, most recently as the principal of BrainSpark Media, which he co-founded in 2005.

Evan Husney

Evan joined the CRYSC Board in 2013, and has played a vital role in helping lead the organization and our continuous efforts to provide a positive experience for kids of all ages and abilities. Born and raised in Denver, he has two children actively playing for the Club. Evan played soccer competitively through college and still plays today in various adult leagues in town. In his career, Evan is a corporate attorney with Foster Graham Milstein & Calisher, and co-founder of Nokero, a company that provides solar products for use in off-grid environments.

John Messiter

John has been on the CRYSC Board since 2013. An accomplished youth player from Ann Arbor, MI, his motivations stem from his passion for the game and his experience working with a number of non-profit organizations in recent years. He attended the University of Cincinnati where he obtained a BA in economics. John has a son who plays for the club and he still plays in pick-up soccer games around town when time allows. On the professional side, John enjoys a career in the insurance industry. 

Andy Olree
Andy has served on the Board since 2009, and has been coaching with the Club for more than 13 years. He’s coached four of his older children to the competitive level and still coaches his youngest son’s team. Andy grew up in St. Louis and began playing organized soccer at age eight. He has played more than 37 years, and continues playing the game in adult leagues in Denver. In addition to his years of service to CRYSC, Andy owns a mid-sized architecture firm called Design Edge. 

Derek Scarth
Derek’s CRYSC Board appointment commenced in the Fall of 2015. He has been associated with the Club as a volunteer coach every year since 2008. Derek is a Colorado native and played with the Denver Kickers as a youth and collegiately at Regis University. Derek lives in Denver with his wife, Lisa, and their three sons who currently play within the Rapids youth program. Professionally, Derek is a Partner for a Denver based estate and financial planning firm. He also is an active Board of Trustee Member at Regis University.

Doris Spornberger 

Doris joined the Finance Committee in 2008 and was appointed to the Board in 2009. Her two daughters have played for the Club since they were toddlers. Doris has extensive volunteer experience with non-profits, was a co-founder of the Montessori Academy of Colorado and Finance member at Stanley British Primary. She has successfully applied her accounting skills and passion to serve the community in her role on the Board. In doing so, she’s proud to be a positive example to her daughters by contributing to the Club.

Reed Welch
Reed joined the Board in November 2015. He has two children in the Club, both starting at the youth level and now playing in the competitive ranks. A Colorado native, he played at Ohio Wesleyan University, one of the most successful Division III programs in the US. Soccer has been a defining part of Reed's life and he is committed to helping CRYSC provide equally rewarding experiences for all players and families. Professionally, Reed is a Managing Director for Raymond James, overseeing the firm’s investment banking efforts in the Healthcare Technology industry.
