Newington Squeaks by Farmington at Home

The Newington Wolves squeaked by a very physical Farmington soccer team in league play with a 2-1 victory to improve to 2-1 in its league schedule.

Farmington jumped on the board first at the 11 minute mark of the first half to go up 1-0. This was the first goal allowed by the Wolves in three-plus games.

Both teams locked down on one another in the defensive zones and the game stayed 1-0 until the 35 minute mark of the first half when Domenic scored off a Justin to Cooper to Domenic connection to tie the score at 1-1.

Newington took the lead 2-1 at the 10 minute mark of the 2nd half on a goal by Cooper after the initial shot was stuffed by the Farmington goalkeeper.

The remaining 30 minutes was played extremely physical by both teams with the Newington defense and goalkeeping outplaying the Farmington squad.

Newington moves onto its next league game on Sunday, September 29th at 4:30 p.m. at home versus the Windsor Soccer Club.
