MSSA and HSSA Programs

Hilliard MSSA/HSSA League Overview

Hilliard participates each spring in the Middle School Soccer Association league (MSSA) and the High School Soccer Association (HSSA) league.  The purpose of the association is to provide middle school and high school aged players the opportunity to continue to play the game, on a recreational level.  The objective is to have fun.

Games are played as "friendlies", among teams affiliated with the Ohio South Youth Soccer Association (OSYSA).  All teams must register through a league affiliated with the Ohio South Youth Soccer Association.  All players who register to play, must be placed on a team; provided a sufficient number of players register to form a team and a coach can be secured for the team.  Teams may not be formed on the basis of a tryout.  HSSA must not have more then 5 players per high school and same gender on a  team.

Players who have reached the age of 15 prior to August 1st of the current soccer year, or players in the 9th grade, or higher, are not eligible to play in the MSSA but can choose the HSSA instead.

Team members may play on recreational teams outside of the MSSA/HSSA.  Players may not play on a Select, or Club Team; or a School Sponsored Team that is a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) at the same time they are playing on an MSSA/HSSA team.

As a recreational association, all players should play at least half of each game.

MSSA Program

MSSA Program

Middle School Soccer Association is for male and female participants that are in 7th and 8th grade.  MSSA is an upper recreational program that plays teams from other communities in the Central Ohio area including Dublin, Worthington, Westerville, Pickerington, Johnstown, Jonathan Alder.

This program will be offered in the Spring only.   Registration will be in January.

MSSA teams are coached by parent volunteers. The league has teams for boys and teams for girls. If HOSA has enough registrants a boys team and a girls teams will be formed.  In the event there are not enough players, the HOSA MSSA team may be co-ed.   Games are typically played on Wednesday and Saturdays for Girls,  and Thursday and Saturdays for boys  teams.  There are typically 5 home games and 5 away games. The schedule is made by league, but subject to change. Coaches can adjust schedules to field and team member availability. Week day games may be out of division but closer to home while weekend games tend to be in division and may travel anywhere in Central Ohio.

There is an end of season tournament.  The tournament lasts 2 weeks starting the Monday after the regular season ends. League determines time and place.  Tournament concludes on Sunday of the second weekend with the championship game in each division.

The teams purchase their own uniforms that will not exceed $50 by rule.

MSSA fee per season: $120.00.
Please note that once a child is registered for a program there are no refunds given unless there is not enough to form a team or a coach does not step up to coach the team
