Call for Nominations for Section 1 Director Election

AYSO SECTION 1 DIRECTOR ELECTION - 2017

In accordance with AYSO National Bylaws and executive member appointment records, the term of the current Section 1 Director ends on June 30, 2017.  Therefore, the nomination period for the position of Section 1 Director for the 3 year term beginning July 1, 2017 and ending June 30, 2020 is open effective March 15, 2017, and nominations will be accepted through April 21, 2017.

The Nominating Committee consists of all the Area Directors in Section 1. The Committee is seeking names of interested candidates. The members of the Nominating Committee will verify eligibility and potential candidates will be invited to address the Area Directors at the regularly scheduled Section 1 Staff Meeting, May 9, 2017.  The election for the position of Section Director will take place immediately following.  If there is more than one candidate, 

Area Directors will vote via secret ballot. 

The criteria for candidate qualifications include:  1) five years’ experience within the AYSO organization at the level of Regional Commissioner or Area Director, 2) demonstrated qualities of leadership and diplomacy, 3) personal flexibility, time and commitment essential to foster a congenial and supportive relationship within the Section, 4) currently registered AYSO volunteer in good standing.

Executive Members within Section 1 are encouraged to submit recommendations of potential candidates through your respective Area Director.  Nominations must be submitted to Committee Chairperson, Area H Director Jim Engel, via email [email protected] or by phone 760-327-6785, no later than April 21, 2017

ARTICLE VII: SPECIAL DIRECTORS   SECTION 7.01 SECTION DIRECTOR 

A Section Director shall be nominated by themselves and the Area Directors within each Section and appointed by the Board for a term of three years. Each Section Director shall report to the Board and be responsible for the general welfare and administration of the Organization within such Section and be in charge of all inter-Area activities within such Section. The Section staff, through the Section Director, shall be responsive to the Board in accomplishing such administrative functions as may be requested. The Section Director shall oversee appropriate dispute resolution mechanisms within the Section. A Section Director may be suspended or removed by the Board.
