Program Structure

The Springfield Soccer Club is based upon the model used by professional clubs throughout the world.  All decisions are based with the best interest of soccer and player development in mind.  The Board of Directors supports the Director of Soccer Operations who oversees the day to day operations of the club, including the full-time staff of Directors and Coaching Staff.

Academy Program u12-18
The SSC Academy Program is for young people that enjoy soccer, but do not want soccer to be their main focus.  Specifically, the program is designed for players who are looking to improve their technical skills in preparation for MS and HS soccer in a fun learning environment.  There is a seamless transition from the Academy Program to the Competitive Program if a player so chooses to increase their commitment and desire. Academy Program.pdf

Juniors Program u3-7 (3v3 & 4v4)
The first step in soccer growth and development begins with a love of the game and especially a love of having the ball.  That is created with quality time learning the nuances of the ball.  How do you make it roll left, right, short, long, soft, hard, straight, curved?  The Juniors Program is designed to give players time with the ball at their feet learning and loving the ball, building a foundation to grow upon as they get older.  They will typically train one time per week for 45 minutes.  2014 Juniors Program.pdf

Youth Academy u7-8 (5v5)

The foundation of any successful soccer club around the world is found within it's youth development program.  Based upon the premise that playing the game of soccer is one of the best wayd to learn it, players are placed into an environment where they focus on individual technical skills first, and play small-sided games.  Teams train one time per week for one hour and 15 minutes.

U9 Ages (8v8)
Introduction to more competitive soccer and a bigger field.  Typical games are 8v8 now.  Teams play in a structured league at LCS.  We introduce tournament play with one per season and typically in town.  Teams typically train two times per week for one and a half hours per session.

u10-12 Ages (8v8 or 11v11 at u12)

Teams start to become a bit more of a focus here in this age group, while still maintaining a strong focus on player development.  Players are placed into team/player pools where continuing to learn how to play the game and mastering individual technical skills are the main focus.  Exposure to tournaments and outside league competition continues at these ages.  Teams typically participate in the following tournaments, Clorox Cup, Metro Fall Classic, Champions Challenge, LCS Fall Classic, KC Select Mother’s Day, Tony Glavin Spring Classic, and many others.  Our kids begin playing against the best teams/players in the country and realizing what they are capable of doing.  League play will be at LCS and in the Central States Futures League.  The CSFL will better prepare players and teams for the next step within the National Premier League play.  Teams typically train two times per week for one and a half hours per session.

U13-19 Ages (11v11)

Teams and players are now focused on team success and exposure to the highest levels of competition within the Midwest and United States.  Player development is continued here as the ability to get players to the next level is a primary goal.  At u13 & 14 boys teams begin playing in the National Premier League which is the second highest youth soccer league in the country, and that continues through HS completion.  College exposure is obtained by attending the highest level of college showcases in the nation.  Teams typically at these ages participate in the Heartland League in Kansas City, Midwest Regional League, and National Premier League.  They also take part in the FC Dallas Showcase, SLSG Boys College Showcase, TSC Sam Shannon Showcase, Disney Soccer Showcase, Score at the Shore (FL), Showcase of the South and the College Search Kickoff.  Teams typically train two times per week for one and a half hours per session.

U20 & 23 Program (11v11)

During the summer months the Springfield Soccer Club is home for some of the top soccer players from throughout the Midwest.  Players and teams compete against clubs/teams from Illinois, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma.  This provides the Alumni from the Springfield Soccer Club an opportunity to play high level soccer during the summer months in a professional environment where they can continue their development before returning to college soccer.
