Recreation Coach & Volunteer Compliance Instructions
As a coach or team manager at Twin County Soccer Association, you play a vital role in creating a positive experience for our players. To ensure a safe environment and comply with insurance requirements, all volunteers must complete the following steps through the New Jersey Youth Soccer (NJYS) portal:
- Background Check
- Concussion Training Certification
- SafeSport Training Module
If you have an account in Twin County Soccer’s SportsConnect system, you can log in with the same username and password to register as a volunteer coach here:
NJYS Volunteer Coach Registration
1. Registering as a Volunteer Coach in NJYS
If You Have a SportsConnect Account:
- Go to NJYS Volunteer Coach Registration.
- Click Login and enter your SportsConnect credentials.
- Select the Volunteer option and follow the prompts to register.
- Choose Twin County Soccer Association as your club.
Note: If you do not have a SportsConnect account, you will need to create one on the registration page.
2. Background Check / Risk Management Submission
- Log in to NJYS: www.njyouthsoccer.com.
- Click Volunteer in the left-hand menu.
- Click View Divisions next to NJYS Recreational Coach Registration.
- Select Fall 2024-Spring 2025 → Click View Selected Opportunities.
- Click Select under Risk Management Submission.
- Select your name and click Continue.
- Complete the required fields, including:
- Contact Information
- Social Security Number (SSN) for identification
- Select Twin County Soccer Association
- Click View/Accept to authorize the background check.
- Submit the form and wait for NJYS verification.
Checking Your Background Check Status
- Log in to NJYS.
- Go to My Account → Volunteer.
- Check the Risk Status field:
- Approved: Background check is complete.
- Pending: Awaiting verification.
Note: If you log out before finishing, simply log back in and continue from where you left off.
3. Concussion Training Certification
Note: If you already completed this training, NJYS should mark your status as Verified. If not, follow these steps:
Taking the Training
- Go to CDC Concussion Training.
- Click Launch Course under the Coaches section.
- Log in or create an account.
- Take the pre-test, complete the training course, and pass the post-test.
- Download your certificate upon completion.
Uploading Your Certificate to NJYS
- Log in to NJYS: www.njyouthsoccer.com.
- Click Volunteer in the left-hand menu.
- Click the Concussion Certificate box.
- Select Renew & Update → Upload → Submit.

4. SafeSport Training Module
First-time users must complete the full SafeSport Trained Certificate (90 min). Returning users will take a 20-minute refresher course.
Taking the Training
- Log in to NJYS: www.njyouthsoccer.com.
- Click Volunteer in the left-hand menu.
- Click the SafeSport box → Renew & Update.
- Click the link provided or go to SafeSport Training.
- Create an account or log in if you have trained before.
- Enter Organization Member ID: Club SID# 11208653.
- Enter Organization Name: US Soccer.
- Accept the terms & conditions.
- Under My Courses, complete the required SafeSport Training Module.
- Download your certificate after completion.
Uploading Your Certificate to NJYS
- Log in to NJYS.
- Click Volunteer in the left-hand menu.
- Click the SafeSport box.
- Select Renew & Update → Upload → Submit.

Final Steps
All three compliance steps (Background Check, Concussion Training, and SafeSport) must be completed before coaching.
