What is Skills Day?
Skills Day is a chance for spring head coaches in Instructional League (ages 6–8), Minor League (ages 8–10), and Little League (ages 10–12) to understand the range of skill levels among players signed up for spring baseball.
Why do we do it?
Our goal as an organization is to have a variety of skill sets on each team, which allows for competitive play throughout the in-house season.
What are the “skills”?
Each Skills Day session consists of running, agility, hitting, throwing/pitching, and fielding.
Is it a tryout?
Skills Day is not a tryout. This is a skills assessment to help coaches understand the range of abilities across each age group. The goal is to help create balanced teams with a variety of skill sets for competitive and fun in-house play.
Where/When?
Skills Day is typically held in late February/early March at Avonworth High School/Middle School. Time options and additional details are communicated in February.
Do parents stay?
Parents will drop their player(s) off and wait in the cafeteria while their player goes through the various drills. Volunteers will move the players through the drills.
