Fargo Area Sports offers travel ball teams for ages10U-18U. It is designed to give players an additional competitive fastpitch opportunity playing some of the top competition in the area, state, and region. Fargo Area Sports teams will be given the opportunity to travel to various tournaments throughout the area in the summer as well the opportunity to compete in the North Dakota State tournament and beyond.
The cost for travel can vary depending on the team's schedule, tournaments, and sponsorships. Below is a rough estimate for what the total cost is for travel fastpitch.
TRY OUT PROCESS:
Travel team tryouts are typically held in late January or early February. The tryout schedule will be posted on the Fargo Area Sports website when dates are finalized. Once a player tries out for a team, no refunds will be given.
During the tryout process, players will be evaluated and teams will be chosen by an independent evaluator group, along with the head coach of the team. Our evaluators will have no ties to the players (except the head coach if a parent) and are typically local high school fastpitch coaches, former college fastpitch players and Fargo Area Sports staff. Parents are NOT allowed in the facility during the tryout process. If a player is NOT selected for a travel team, that player will be placed on a summer recreational team.
- Skill Level: Advanced
- Must try out for this team. Tryouts will be January 27th and February 3rd.
- High Level of commitment
- Will play other teams that are also competitive.
- Will have 12-16 league games during the week.
- Will have a minimum of 2 practices during the week or 1 extended practice.
- There will be 4-6 tournaments depending on age level. Tournaments are typically 2 or 3 day tournaments.
- Players are required to attend all tournaments. There is a higher level of commitment when trying out for a travel team.
- Season begins in May/June depending on age group and ends in July/August, dependant also on age group and number of tournaments team/coach participate in.
- It is expected that all girls take part in all tournaments unless otherwise discussed with coach/administration.
- Experienced and qualified coaches are hired to coach the girls.
- Once tryouts are completed, you then will have the option to register for travel.

Sanford Power Training (12 sessions for players in 12U - 18U age divisions)
To enroll in the travel program, you must first enroll in our summer program, take part in tryouts and be selected to a travel team. Once selected, then travel fees will be allocated and through a 3 part payment plan. The final bill will not be required until the end of the season to take into account any extra costs incurred by the team/player or reimbursements because of fundraising or other monies due back.
If a player is not selected to a travel team, that player will have a roster spot on a non-travel summer rec team. Summer recreational teams do have the opportunity to play in tournaments if they and the team want to register. Costs for the tournement registration would then be divided amongst the team.
