FC Excel and FC Alliance Unify Club Soccer in Central West Virginia

Two area soccer clubs join to create the prolific soccer experience for all. Bryce Meche will serve as the new Director of Coaching for all club soccer in North-Central West Virginia.

[Harrison County, WV] November 3rd, 2022 – Starting this winter, FC Excel and FC Alliance Central will work toward a path of unifying the two soccer entities into one. FC Alliance will now have the best coaches, facilities, and player pool in West Virginia. FC Alliance in totality will have 600+ players with membership ranging from South of Charleston to Morgantown.

The Excel brand, founded by Raul Ovalle, has been a staple of the Greater Clarksburg/Harrison County area for many years. They pride themselves on creating truly dynamic players that can compete at the highest level. The club has 250+ members that play annually and compete in tournaments and leagues throughout the Eastern United States. Currently, the club is Directed by Bryce Meche who has been a part of Excel and Valley Soccer Academy for 6+ years.

Coach Meche has a rich soccer past. As a player, Bryce was an instrumental part of the Northeast Texas CC men’s team prior to transferring to Alderson Broaddus University. Coming full circle, he started his coaching career with Empire FC, now returning to FC Alliance Central. After several years of coaching in the youth ranks, he broke into the collegiate game, coaching first at his alma mater and then moving on to be the assistant on the women’s side at Glenville State College. Currently, Meche is the Goalkeeper Coach at Fairmont State along with his duties as FC Excel Director of Operations.

FC Alliance Central is new to the FC Alliance brand since joining the club in 2022. Droo Callahan serves under the Central Board of Directors as the Executive Director of the club. He commented, “Since coming to West Virginia, my view is that soccer has been fragmented and in a constant state of flux. This unification truly gives the communities in the area a soccer club for all!” FCA has some of the greatest resources a club needs. The Bridge Sports Complex offers an ever-growing complex that will continue to provide the best playing surfaces for years to come, both indoor and outdoor. In addition, the club works with the staff at the complex to provide other services to enhance the overall player experience such as human performance training, video review, and recovery modalities for the applicable ages.

Hannah Abraham has served as the Director of Coaching for FCA Central. Soon, Coach Abraham will be taking on a new challenge in life as she seeks to play professional soccer abroad. She has been a huge asset to this area as a coach, personal trainer, and mentor of young people. We wish Hannah all the best in this endeavor!

With the new changes, Bryce Meche will serve as the new FCA Central Director of Coaching and continue leading FC Excel with the aid of Coach Callahan. While this transition takes place, Coach Abraham and Meche will work together to ensure this change is as smooth as possible for all families. Hannah Abraham commented, “Although this is a bittersweet moment, I am very proud of the work and direction the club has taken in the past year. The alliance that has been built between local clubs and staff has all happened with the goal of creating a better soccer experience for our players and families. I am so excited that my departure comes with the addition of FC Excel and Coach Meche. FC Alliance will be better for that addition, and I can’t wait to see how the players progress under this new leadership. I am very thankful for the relationships I’ve formed and feel so much support in this transition. I will be following and rooting for the FCA players from afar!”

FCA founder and director Adam Arthur is ecstatic for this merger. “After coming together with FCA Central, we knew we had something truly special, and this new merger with Excel proves this to be true. Both clubs have a longstanding tradition of excellence that we will continue in our future as one club. I look forward to continuing to unify the brand as we continue to grow, where we will not see boundaries of locations, but only a unified club as FC Alliance WV,” stated Arthur.

Starting this Winter, the clubs will merge indoor training.  This will allow the families, players, and coaching staff to get to know each other. Evaluations for all age groups start next week for both clubs for the spring season. Those that are interested in joining the movement can register for the club they wish to play the spring season for. The registration links provided below are for evaluations only. Players selected by the leadership of the club may be offered the option to train during the winter. Only those players that are selected for Spring teams with Excel and FCA Central are eligible for this training.
