Florida Tropics Lacrosse: Developing the Next Generation of Players

WELLINGTON, FL – The Florida Tropics Lacrosse program is making waves in the South Florida lacrosse community as the nonprofit affiliate of True Lacrosse, bringing high-level training and development opportunities to boys and girls in Wellington and the surrounding Palm Beach County area. With a focus on skill development, elite coaching, and competitive play, the Florida Tropics provide a clear pathway for local players to advance their game and compete on regional, state, and national teams.

A Mission to Grow the Game

The Florida Tropics are dedicated to fostering a positive, competitive, and developmental lacrosse environment where players can refine their skills, learn from top-tier coaches, and take their game to the next level. With a strong emphasis on fundamentals, game strategy, and athletic development, the program is designed to support athletes of all experience levels, from newcomers to aspiring collegiate players.

"Our goal is to provide an unmatched opportunity for players in our community," said Jason Heatherly, Palm Beach County Director for True Lacrosse. "We want to give athletes access to high-quality coaching, elite-level training, and a structured path to success in lacrosse, whether that’s playing at the high school level, advancing to college, or even competing nationally."

Elite Coaching & Player Development

One of the standout aspects of the Florida Tropics program is the high caliber of coaching staff. Led by True Lacrosse Florida Territory Manager Cam Bazin and Palm Beach County Director Jason Heatherly, the program also features former and current collegiate players, high school coaches, and professional trainers to ensure that players receive top-tier instruction and mentorship.

Among the coaching staff is Chloe Foley, a former Keiser College player and girls’ lacrosse trainer, who brings valuable experience and insight to the program. Additionally, high school coaches from Spanish River, Palm Beach Central, and Seminole Ridge are involved in training, helping to build a strong foundation for local lacrosse talent.

Opportunities Beyond the Local Level

As the True Lacrosse affiliate for Palm Beach County, the Florida Tropics provide a direct pathway for players looking to advance beyond the local scene. The program is designed to help athletes compete at the highest levels, whether that means making a regional travel team, earning a spot on the Florida State Team, or even progressing to the National Team.

"We want our players to have every opportunity to grow, compete, and succeed," said Heatherly. "With access to some of the best coaching, training, and competition, our program is built to help athletes reach their full potential."
