Chaires Makes History, Wins Southeast Little League Title

Following a historic climb through the Little League All Star Tournament brackets, Chaires 9-11 All-Star Team won the top title, becoming the first team from Tallahassee to not only win a State title, but to win the Southeast Region's Little League Tournament of Champions (TOSC). TOSC marks the highest level the 9-11 age bracket is able to play at, bringing together the top eight teams from the Southeast Region to compete.

Chaires 9-11’s season began at the Section level, where they faced off against District 1’s Niceville Little League in Niceville on July 12. The best-of-three match-up went to Chaires in two games.

Following their win in Niceville, Chaires advanced to the State Tournament in Parkland, Florida, beginning July 18. After going 3-0 in pool play, Chaires claimed victory over a tough Keystone Little League team in the Championship. The State Championship represented the first time ever any Little League team from Tallahassee has won a State Championship title.

The state win advanced them to the Tournament of State Champions in Wilson, North Carolina, beginning July 25, where they squared off with the State Champion teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, and Tennessee.

The team went 2-1 in pool play, moving on the beat Georgia in the semifinals. They faced a tough South Carolina team in the Championship game, ultimately winning with a walk-off in the bottom of the 8th inning.
