Select U10-U19

Mukilteo Youth Soccer Club is bringing back our own competitive soccer program.  This program will provide players the ability to compete at a higher level in the competitive league with a much lower cost than other programs.

The competitive season is longer than the normal MYSC Recreational season. Practices will start in June or July. Teams will play tournaments in either July or August. Coaches will notify you very early so you can plan your summer vacations. The regular season starts the weekend after Labor Day weekend and goes 12 games ending mid-December. Teams that CHOOSE to enter the State Championship will continue to play and practice off and on until late February or until eliminated from the tournament.

We will have tryouts on May 21st & 22nd. We will open registration for tryouts on February 1st. Tryouts are FREE!! If your child does not make a competitive team, they can still play for MYSC Recreational same as they did last year. Why do you need to register? So we know if we will have enough players to field a team. We have coaches that many of you know already and they are ready to go. Tryouts will be a 2-day event. The cost is $750 for a season.

If you have any questions, see our FAQ's below or you can reach to Eric Christensen via email.

WHAT IS MYSC SELECT?

MYSC Select is the select soccer division of Mukilteo Youth Soccer Club. It is a program that is open to Snohomish County and other areas that gives kids the opportunity to be coached at a higher level and allows them to compete at the select level. Teams will play in the North Puget Sound League (NPSL) against other select teams.

WHAT AGE GROUPS?

For this year (2022/2023) we are going to try to have teams in the following age groups 2013 U10 - 2004 U19.

DO PLAYERS HAVE TO ATTEND ALL TRYOUT DAYS?

NO, they do not. However, if your player feels that they did not have a good tryout on the first day, they should attend the second day to see if they can improve their play. Tryouts are when coaches will evaluate the players and make decisions on who they will ask to join their team. A second look could raise their chance of getting selected.

HOW MUCH DOES MYSC SELECT COST?

We are doing our best to keep the costs low. Right now, it will be between $700-800. This will include EVERYTHING your player will need. Some programs cost over $1000 to just join and then you start adding all of the other costs on top of it. Those costs can be over $1500 quickly. Monthly payments are available with MYSC.

WHAT IS INCLUDED WITH MY FEES?

Your player will receive a home and away jersey, 1 pair of shorts, and 2 pairs of socks. A 10-12 game season through NPSL and practice fields on Mukilteo School District fields starting in June or July through the entire season including fields with lights in the winter months. It also includes all tournament fees.

CAN A PLAYER TRYOUT EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT SURE THEY WANT TO PLAY SELECT SOCCER?

Yes! We DO NOT charge a fee to tryout so players can come and see if this is for them. They may decide that they are not ready for this commitment to play at this level and that is OK. We just ask that you let the coaches know if you intend to join the team or not so they don’t offer a spot to your player.

CAN A PLAYER “PLAY UP” AND TRYOUT FOR AN OLDER TEAM?

Yes, they can. We prefer that they tryout for their proper age group though. You will be asked during registration if you are planning to play up. You will need to let coaches know that you are planning on trying out for multiple age teams.

DO YOU PLAY ALL YEAR LONG, AND CAN MY PLAYER, PLAY OTHER SPORTS?

The normal season will be from Mid-June/Early July to Mid-December. Teams that want to enter the state cup will continue to practice and play from February through April. Teams that choose to play year-round, will play the spring season in the league. Teams will play typically 2 tournaments in the summer in either July or August and one in November. We really would like players to become well-rounded athletes and not just soccer players. MYSC fully believes that kids need to play other sports and cross-train. Kids are getting major injuries earlier from being focused on just one sport. Our coaches will work with players and their families to make this happen. If a team does plan to play year-round, we would like the players to attend at least one practice a week to keep their skills up.

HOW MANY DAYS A WEEK DOES A TEAM PRACTICE?

Teams will practice a minimum of 2 times a week. Coaches will be able to add an additional practice a week for a total of 3 times a week.

HOW FAR DO WE HAVE TO TRAVEL FOR GAMES?

You should not have to travel any further north than Bellingham or as far south as Tacoma, as far east as Issaquah/Monroe, or west to Bremerton. It is very rare that you would have to travel east of the mountains for a regular-season game. It is possible in the high school age groups. Teams that are in the state cup tournament can play anywhere in the state.

DO HIGH SCHOOL BOYS AND GIRLS HAVE DIFFERENT SEASONS?

Yes. Select Clubs in the State of Washington follow the school system so that players can play both MYSC Select and High School Soccer. High School Boys will train and play in the summer and fall for their MYSC Select team and then play for their High School team in the spring. High School Girls will train in the summer and play in summer tournaments. They will play for their High School team in the fall and then resume play in spring with their MYSC Select team
