Head Coach • Leslie King
Head coach Leslie King enters her 18th season at the helm of the University of Pennsylvania softball team in 2021.
Since her arrival at Penn, King led the program to its first NCAA Championship appearance (in 2013) and has coached 49 players who earned 101 All-Ivy honors and seven players who earned Ivy League yearly awards including two-time Player of the Year Christina Khosravi (2006, 2008). Other major award winners include Emma Nedley (2019 Rookie of the Year), Leah Allen (2014 Rookie of the Year, 2017 Player of the Year) Jurie Joyner (2015 Rookie of the Year), Alexis Borden (2012 Rookie of the Year), Jessie Lupardus (2008 Rookie of the Year), and Annie Kinsey (2007 Player of the Year). In addition to being named the 2007 Player of the Year and a four-time first-team All-Ivy selection, Kinsey was also named to the Easton All-American second team. Under the direction of King, eight players – Lauren Li, Alexis Borden, Sydney Turchin, Elysse Gorney, Brooke Coloma, Alisha Prystowsky, Keiko Uraguchi, and Annie Kinsey – were named All-Ivy in each of their four seasons. King has also coached six players to 11 NFCA All-Region honors.
The 2020 season may have been shortened by a nationwide outbreak of COVID-19, but under King, the Quakers were able to accomplish several impressive things. The 6-3 start in the first nine games was the programs best start since 2008 and the Quakers earned five wins by the run-rule. On March 9, the Quakers earned a clean sweep of Ivy League Weekly Awards, with Jennifer Brann recording her fifth Pitcher of the Week award, Kayla Ketring's first Player of the Week and Bella Fiorentino's first Rookie of the Week.
