Umpire Information-Mark Smith, District 9 UIC (contact information above) will coordinate umpires. Local umpires will be used for all Tournament games.
Registration- Registration will take place at West Springfield High School from 1-4 PM on Wednesday, July 13. At this time each team should provide their team roster, completed affidavit, and checks for the team’s t-shirts and extra picnic tickets.
Opening Ceremonies- Opening Ceremonies will be held in the West Springfield High School baseball stadium at 5:00 PM on July 13. Players should wear their team shirts. Arrival time is 4:30.
Picnic- The pre-tournament dinner catered by Pure Perfection will take place in the cafeteria at West Springfield High School at 6 PM on July 13.
Managers, Coaches and Umpires Meeting- The meeting will be held in Spartan Hall at West Springfield High School (direction signs will be provided) immediately following the dinner. Approximate start time will be 7:30 PM, July 13.
Fees-There are no fees for admission or parking. District 9 and West Springfield Little League will appreciate donations when the hat is passed at each game to help defray the many costs associated with holding the tournament.
Parking—Ample parking is available at Byron Park. Please avoid spots reserved for handicapped persons, emergency vehicles and tournament staff. Please also be aware that some areas are more prone to foul balls than others.
Pregame Procedures--Teams should be at the field at least 45 minutes prior to their game time. As soon as you arrive report to the tournament director for the coin flip. Home team will occupy the first base dugout.
At 30 minutes prior to game time visiting team will take the field for warm-ups.
At 20 minutes prior to game time home team will take the field for warm-ups.
At 10 minutes prior to game time players, coaches, tournament director and umpires will be introduced. Players will line up behind the foul lines as they are introduced. We will recite the Little League Pledge and/or play the National Anthem. Coaches will meet with the Umpires for the pre-game conference. Then we will “Play Ball”.
Practices—Practice fields and batting cages will be provided by Central Springfield Little League at Trailside Park, 6700 Stagecoach St., Springfield, VA 22150. A pre-game batting practice schedule will be distributed at registration. Fields will be available upon request to Mike Warbel (614-216-1901 or [email protected]).
Team Equipment---All bats, helmets and other equipment must meet Little League requirements. Prior to each game, teams will line up their equipment, including all bats, gloves and helmets in front of your dugout for umpire inspections.
Spectator Policies and Procedures--No noise makers of any kind will be allowed. Bleacher seating will be provided but you are welcome to bring your lawn chairs, canopies or tarps. There will be a concession stand open during the tournament. With the exception of the host league/district, no spectator’s equipment associated with streaming of games may be affixed to any location on the playing facility including lighting stanchion and fencing.
