Jake's bio and picture are below. Welcome to the family, Jake!

Tom Yelton - Director of Coaching

Tom moved to Belfast, Tennessee in the Spring of 2020 with his wife and 3 children, Nicholas, Daniel, and Elizabeth.  They purchased their dream of a farm to work and run.  Prior to moving to Tennessee, Tom lived in central Illinois for 7 years where he ran a fabrication shop for 4 years and then worked in commercial construction doing virtual construction for 3 more years.  In 2019 his family relocated to Tennessee where he began working as a Virtual Construction Project Manager for a large commercial construction contractor.  In October of 2021, Tom accepted a new position with The Comfort Group as their VDC Manager, where he continues to manage a group doing virtual construction in the HVAC and Plumbing disciplines.

Tom grew up in a small town in Northern Illinois, where he worked on a farm just outside of town and was not introduced to the sport of wrestling until his sophomore year of high school.  He wrestled for 3 years and enjoyed every moment.  Immediately following high school, he began coaching youth wrestling.  I quickly found a passion for coaching kids in this sport.  I continued coaching in youth programs after married his wife Jill in 2008.  For several years he was involved in helping run the IESA state tournament as well as other various large tournaments in Illinois.  When he moved to central Illinois in 2012, he quickly became involved with the local kids club wrestling program.  Not only did Tom coach in that program for several years but he was actively involved in the administration of the club as well.  Tom ran a yearly tournament for that club which hosted approximately 400 youth athletes.  Since moving to Tennessee, Tom has taken a break from the sport of wrestling as his children have been active in other activities and sports but he is excited to get back to his passion of coaching this wonderful sport.

“Once you’ve wrestled, everything else in life is easy.” -Dan Gable

Katie Warf Viazcan - Director of Wrestling

Katie has been involved with wrestling since she was in high school where she learned the sport as a wrestling manager at Marshall County High School.

Katie lived in the wrestling stronghold of Minnesota for a time, where her two boys, Xavier and Dominic, were involved with the sport at an early age.  Xavier, her oldest, was Minneapolis City Champion two times and runner up once.

Since returning to Tennessee, her boys continued to wrestle for several local clubs, including Rockets Youth Wrestling, Hustle Factory and Spartan Youth Wrestling.  Xavier had an enormous final year as a youth wrestler culminating in him being named in a tie for the 3rd ranked middle schooler in Tennessee, Regional Champion, runner-up for Folkstyle State Champion, and Tennessee 14u State Champion for both Freestyle and Greco Roman.  He placed 3rd in the Greco Roman National Regional Tournament and was on Team Tennessee National Duals Team for Folkstyle, Freestle, and Greco Roman.

Xavier returns to the mat this winter, with the inaugural wrestling season of his school, Cornersville High School, as a 170 pound Freshman.  Dominic will join him in a few years, as he has returned to the mat with the Spartan Wrestling Club and Maximum Velocity.  Dominic has three more years of youth wrestling and is looking to surpass his older brother’s accomplishments.

Katie also roots for her nephew, Eli Alexander, who is a sophomore on Marshall County High School’s wrestling team.

Katie works as a registered nurse at the Alvin C York Veteran’s hospital in addition to supporting her sons’ wrestling seasons. She hopes that Maximum Velocity can bring the sport she loves to Marshall County youth, as she sees the positive impact wrestling has had on the youth wrestlers that she love’s confidence and physical fitness.
