Director of Coaching/Head Coach: Paul Furey
Paul Furey brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and success in his new role at Premier
Soccer Academy as Head Coach and Director of Coaching. With over thirty years of head
coaching experience at the collegiate and club level Furey has left a mark in the college ranks
as well as on the club level.

Furey ranks among the top 25 in wins for active coaches in NCAA Division II and in the NAIA.
With stints at four different colleges in his career, he has amassed nearly 350 victories (.577%)
with numerous coaching awards including being named National Coach of the Year in 2008 and
2014. In those years, Furey took his team to the NAIA Final Four in 2008 and then won the
NCCAA National Championship in 2014 after being runner-up in 2013.

On the club level, Furey has been involved as Director of Coaching at the Mount Vernon Soccer
Association (OH) and Greater Cleveland Soccer Association. He has also coached various
teams at Arsenal Soccer Club (GA) since 2017. While at MVSA, Furey coached his club team
to the Ohio State Cup Title in 2009.

Furey also started and directed two recreational clubs – The Mount Vernon 4v4 while at Mount
Vernon Nazarene University (OH) and the Lee 4v4 while at Lee University which continues to
this day. His passion and love for coaching soccer players of all ages have contributed to his
summer youth camps being highly successful and well-attended in Ohio and Tennessee.

For the past four years, Furey has been connected with Exact Sports and was named their
Southeast Region Lead for the national agency. He has led countless camps in the southeast
region as well as Nationally for high school and club team players alike who are aspiring to play
at the next level.

Furey’s three-core philosophy of success on the field, in the classroom, and in Model-like
conduct has been clearly evident in his teams over his three decades of coaching. His wins and
success speak for themselves while his teams have maintained a team GPA of 3.0 or better. In
addition, his teams have been recognized for best sportsmanship 10 times since 2002.

The coach has been a mentor to hundreds of players over his career who have become All-
Americans, high school coaches, college coaches, club coaches, professionals, great citizens
in the community, and great husbands and fathers at home.

Furey himself was a three-sport standout in college and attributes his good fortunes in life to the
lessons he learned as an athlete and his faith. Furey has been married to his wife Debra, for 38
years and they have two adult children living in Los Angeles, Chelsea, and Justin. The father
and son claimed two crowns together winning the State Cup in Ohio in 2009 and then winning a
National Championship together in Justin’s final game as a senior in college in 2014
