Rookies Division

Typical age range: league age 8 year old players

Rookies level is specifically designed to provide the next step for baseball players before they reach the Eastern division.  At this level, players will continue to learn the fundamentals of baseball and apply it to game situations.  Players will start to learn how to pitch and how to hit a ball pitched to them by a player on the opposing team.  A portion of the game, a coach will pitch to their own players.  At least 2 innings of the game, a player will pitch to the opposing team.

Guidelines the Rookie division should follow can be found here.

Each team will have two games a week, one during the week and one on Saturday.  The amount of practices in a week are at the manager's discretion.  Each game will play in their 2 hour time block and try and get in as many innings as possible.

Coach Pitch Division

Typical age range: league age 6 and 7 year old players

Coach Pitch level that is specifically designed to provide the next step for baseball players.  At this level, players will continues to learn the fundamentals of baseball.  Players will start to learn how to hit a ball slowly pitched to them by a coach.  They will have approximately 5-6 swings to hit the ball.  If the player is unsuccessful at hitting a pitched ball, a tee will be brought in for the player to hit the ball set up on a tee.

Games are played defensively with five infielders: Pitcher (wearing a helmet), 1st base, 2nd base, short stop and 3rd base. The remaining players on the defensive team will practice the basics of throwing, hitting and fielding in the outfield with a coach. The next inning the players that practiced in the outfield will occupy the positions in the infield and vice versa. The team on offense will bat through their entire line up before switching sides. Scores will not be kept. Games will last approximately 60-90 minutes.

Season progression guidelines
About half way through the season, the following rules will be implemented for players to get accustom to the rules of the next level:
- If a defensive out is made, the player will be considered out and head back to the dugout
- If a player is unable to hit a pitched ball after 5 or 6 pitches, the tee will not be provided and the player is considered "struck out" and will head back to the dugout

Each team will have two games a week, one during the week and one on Saturday.

Challengers Division

The Challenger Division of Little League is focused on encouraging students ages 4-18 with intellectual, developmental and physical challenges to enjoy the full benefits of Little League participation in an athletic environment structured to various abilities.

More than the skills of baseball learned through the experience, the value of the Orange Little League Challenger Division is found in the proven therapeutic and socialization benefits of participating in sports; the strengthening of athletes self-esteem; the opportunities to mainstream into other divisions of play and the disciplines of teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play- all hallmarks of the Little League program. We don’t keep score and there are no outs. The sole purpose is to have fun while being physically active.

The cost of this program is $50 per player which includes a uniform shirt and hat. Orange Little League will defray the cost for any athlete that is unable to afford the registration fee.

Students from Orange as well as any surrounding towns are welcome to participate.

Practices and games will be held in the Spring of 2021 at Old Tavern #2, a fully accessible field under ADA guidelines. Dates and times are to be determined.
