The
basketball and cheer programs from the York deanery school and parish programs
have collaborated to create the United Parishes Basketball Club! UPBC is a not-for-profit
basketball and cheerleading club for student athletes that are current
parishioners of Parishes within the York County, PA Deanery. UPBC competes in the York Adams Youth
Basketball A and B Leagues.
Available programs are as follows:
1. Rink Basketball (Boys and Girls) - 3rd and 4th Graders
2. Junior Basketball (Boys and Girls) - 5th and 6th Graders
3. Cheerleading - 3rd - 6th Graders
Registration for the 2026/2027 season will open August 24, 2026, and will close September 18, 2026.
Basketball skills assessments/tryouts will be held in October to
determine which level would best support your child(ren)'s growth. More
information will be provided when registration closes.
Games
are scheduled by the York/Adams League and are held on Saturdays and Sundays
from the beginning of December through the beginning of March. UPBC home courts
will be at St. Joseph (York) and York Catholic. An end of season tournament (one
per team) will be scheduled in February/March if the respective team qualifies
to participate.
Basketball and Cheer practices will
be held twice per week starting in early November. Practice locations
will include St. Joseph (York), St. Patrick’s, and Pine Grove United Methodist
Church
All
game/practice uniforms are owned by UPBC and there is a fee if they are not
returned. All families (everyone with children in the basketball or cheer
program) are expected to volunteer to help our program be successful. This
can be done through coaching (clearances required), running the
clock/scoreboard, keeping the scorebook, admissions table and concessions, and
recruiting businesses for the banner program. Every family will be
assigned to cover anywhere from 2-5 shifts during the season, depending on respective team participant size.
