Mission Statement:To provide a quality recreational soccer experience for every player. This program will work to provide quality coaching, mentoring, and training in a positive environment. Players will develop a foundation in their soccer training that can be used to enjoy the game as they develop new skills or to find a greater love for the game as they develop.Changing the Game: The opening of the Shawnee Sports Complex in late-2018 transformed soccer in the Kanawha Valley and West Virginia. Now the question is: How do we transform recreational soccer? The Shawnee Soccer Recreational Academy (SSRA) takes the success of the Shawnee Soccer League (SSL) founded in 2019 and expands the program with a recreational soccer program that is affordable and world-class:* Minimum of 8 Team training and Professional lead sessions 2 per week. * Training will consist of one TEAM training session on Mondays and one GROUP training session on Thursdays.* Games will be played on Sundays as part of a “Sunday Play Date” weekend. There will be two games played on each designated date over FOUR weekends. Some games may be played on Thursday nights with local partners in lieu of a Team training session. Teams will participate in “play-up” events and State competitions to see how they are progressing.* GROUP training sessions will be led by professional trainers, certified staff, and parent volunteers.* TEAM training sessions will be led by parent coaches with support from professional trainers.* All trainers and parent coaches will be required to complete Risk Management certification requirements and age appropriate grass roots training. Coaches involved with existing recreational programs will be strongly encouraged to join the SSRA staff in these new roles.* All training and games will take place at the Shawnee Sports Complex. The training staff will be able to ensure that programs continue without disruption through the season.
