SSC U12 Girls awarded trophies for fantastic performance!
At the June 2010 Board meeting, the Southbury U12 Girls A team “Storm” were called in and awarded trophies for excellent performance during the 2009 fall season. This team was coached by Chris Lamy and Dan Connors, who led the team to an undefeated season. The girls were disappointed to learn at the close of the season that they were disqualified from winning the Northwest District championship due to an obscure rule that limited the number of premier players on a team to no more than five.
Coaches Lamy and Connors have worked with the girls for many years and encouraged participation on premier teams to further their skills. This has been one of the contributing factors to the team’s strong performance along with player dedication and overall enthusiasm for the game!
Southbury Soccer representatives worked with the Northwest District in spring 2010 to eliminate the premier double roster rule. Although the girls could not be officially recognized as District Champions, the club presented them with some mighty fine trophies and they are recognized as winners in our world!
