TO PARENTS OF THE CHILDREN IN THE INTERMEDIATE DIVISION: - Thursday, January 28, 2010
After much deliberation, SSC has decided to form co-ed teams for Intermediate Division play. The primary reason is to maintain availability and quality of our Recreational Program to the children of this age group. Many parents and children become frustrated due to the lack of teams played and the number of players on each team when genders are seperate, probably why many towns close down their recreational program before this age group.

We want to keep our club open to the children who love to play the game of soccer without the competitiveness of the travel program and this is the only way to accomplish it. Your children may even gain additional benefits from this decision including promotion of gender equality and learning to play a more tactical game that does not rely only on physical strength. There are many articles outlining the benefits of co-ed leagues, two of which are below.

We urge you to give this format a chance to allow all the children an outlet to play and enjoy soccer.  We appreciate any feedback you have about your experiences and will continue to evaluate this this format moving forward.
