Players wear a baseball shirt with a number from the 1971 roster. There always is a #21 and a #35 on a WE#21 team, because WE#21 is dedicated to Manny Sanguillen & Roberto Clemente, Friends & Teammates (F&T). If desired and possible, uniforms will display a “Stronger Then Hate” patch in honor of the victims from the Tree of Life massacre. Each youth learns and emulates the three attributes of being a F&T: Reliability, Loyalty and Generosity. Players receive a WE#21 baseball card for the player that matches their jersey number. Before the end of the season, they must correctly answer questions about their Bucco. After the season, youths celebrate Manny’s birthday on/near March 21 at the Clemente Museum and Roberto’s birthday at a Pirate game on/near August 18.
