Fairview-Clifton Baseball Charter

Who are we?

  • We are the parents of children who want to learn how to play baseball and have fun doing it.
  • We are parents who wish to contribute something of ourselves to the community and our children’s growth.
  • We are individuals who bring our own talents to this group.
  • We are adults who respect one another and strive to treat one another with decorum.

Why are we here?

  • As parents, we want our children to have a positive experience while maintaining a spirit of competition and camaraderie.

Fairview-Clifton Baseball Mission Statement

  • Fairview-Clifton Baseball (FCB) is a school and neighborhood based instructional/recreational program with the goal of teaching children the fundamentals of baseball.

Fairview-Clifton Baseball Structure

Fairview-Clifton Baseball will establish a board of parents committed to ensuring that players, coaches, and parents have the organization, equipment, and access to fields necessary for a successful season and the stability and longevity of the program. The board will be constituted of a Director, Fields Coordinator, Equipment Coordinator, Reds Community Fund Coordinator, and Parent Representative. Board members will have voting privileges.  A four (4) vote supermajority is necessary to amend this charter. Each of these positions will establish a committee of volunteers as needed to share in responsibilities. An order of succession will be established to provide for the smooth transition experienced members through the organization and limit the duration of service.

Fields Coordinator

  • The Field Coordinator is tasked with reserving and scheduling fields for all FCB practices and games. This will entail scouting local ball fields to determine potential use by the program, liaison with the Cincinnati Recreation Commission (CRC) to reserve fields, and maintaining a master calendar with practice and game field schedules.

Equipment Coordinator

  • The Equipment Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining gear of appropriate quantity and quality for each team and uniform procurement. A current inventory of equipment will be maintained through off-season storage of FCB equipment at a designated site.

Reds Community Fund Coordinator

  • The Reds Community Fund Coordinator will liaison with the Reds Community Fund to ensure FCB is in compliance with RCF requirements. This includes scheduling community service events, RCF team parades, and ticket opportunities.

Parent Representative

  • The Parent Representative will assume the role of FCB Parent’s advocate. This position will be filled by someone other than a volunteer coach. Primary responsibilities will be to provide a Parent’s perspective on FCB activities and planning, be a conduit for FCB Parents to provide direct input to FCB processes, and partner with Parents and FCB to resolve issues as they arise.

Director

  • The Director is the representative of FCB in all interorganizational capacities with the ultimate responsibility for the operation of FCB. This includes filling of board positions, league interactions, Reds Community Fund and other development/marketing opportunities, dispute resolution, and disciplinary actions.

Who can play

  • FCB will be open to children enrolled at Fairview-Clifton German Language School, children living in the Clifton community including those enrolled in other schools.

Who can coach or participate on the board

  • Individuals with a direct relationship to an FCB player are eligible to coach and participate on the board and committees. This includes parents, grandparents, and legal guardians. Board members are not required to be coaches.
