GOALKEEPER CLASSES

GOALKEEPING CLASSES(Please note a minimum of 4 goalkeepers needed to run the class)
A 6-week series of 60 minute classes designed specifically for the Goalkeeper.


LOCATIONS AND CONTENT:


Rubber City Sports - Akron

MONDAY EVENINGS 5-6pm

Classes focus on:
IDENTIFYING & IMPROVING WEAKNESSES
IDENTIFYING & ACCENTUATING STRENGTHS
We accomplish this by refining the proper fundamental skills, increasing the power & speed of execution specific to the demanding position of the high school and college goalkeeper.
Weekly curriculum includes essential technical and tactical elements.
A physical workout is incorporated into each 60 minute session. 
The following topics will be covered and techniques reinforced.

- Hand, Arm & Body Posture
- Stance & Footwork
- Ball Stopping & Catching
- Diving: Low, Medium, High
- Crosses, Corner Kicks & Covering the Box
- Distribution: Rolling, Throwing, Kicking, Punting
- Angle Play & Positioning

Successful goalkeepers are creatures of habit, perfecting their style through diligent training and thousands of repetitions. This preparation allows them to react instinctively, performing with a clear mind and the single focus of stopping the ball during games.
Achieving this state of readiness and producing confident, consistent and technically sound soccer goalkeepers is our goal.

PROTOCOL
Please arrive 10-15 minutes early, dress properly and stretch prior to each session.
It is highly recommended that every goalkeeper does sit-ups (2-3 sets of 35, 2x/day) and push-ups (2-3 sets of 15-25, 2x/day) on a daily basis.
It is recommend that participants train in long sleeved shirts, long pants and with goalkeeper gloves. Shin guards, soccer socks, compression shorts, knee pads & elbow pads are recommended.
