Uniforms are ready

I will pass out uniforms at our first practice (tentatively on Friday, September 5th, 4:30pm, at Roslyn Road).

A quick reminder from the league that the uniform is the uniform -- meaning everyone should be (relatively) the same. During the coaches meeting, these were the top two "infractions" on the uniform:
  • Socks: Black soccer socks. I know there are really cute tie-die and other colored socks, but they are pretty big on wearing black ones. I will always have extra with me should someone need them.
  • Shoes/cleats: Soccer cleats do NOT have a front cleat. Baseball and football cleats do. This is a safety thing for our players. Also, plain gym shoes are also just fine at this age. The only reason cleats are recommended is for slippery conditions (the grass is dewey in the mornings, it rains quite a bit, etc.).
  • Earrings: Must be tapped with a cotton ball or a band-aid. No exceptions. Best practice, take them out before the game and put them back in after.
  • Shin guards: Should be touching the skin, with the socks over the TOP. The socks are big, you'll need to fold them down, just do so over the shin guard, not under it.
  • Glasses: Parents/guardians of children who will be wearing street glasses (regular, glass, eye glasses) during a game will need to sign a waiver that I must keep with me at all times. No prescription sun glasses allowed.

Beyond that:

  • The BASA jersey is reversible: Red on one side (home games) and white on the other (away games). Please be sure you have the jersey with you for games.
  • Black athletic shorts. Again, I'll have some with me should someone need a pair.

COLD WEATHER: It gets COLD at Ron Beese park. Even if it's nice near your home, the wind whips out there and it can easily be 15 degrees colder.

  • Sweatshirts: Hoodies are not recommended for safety reasons. If it's all you have, please tuck the hood inside.
  • Stocking hats: No strings hanging or hard pieces on them
  • Gloves: Are a great idea, little fingers get very cold very quickly
  • Pants: Must go over the shin guards. Shin guards should be touching the skin.
