Fall 2017 Season Announcement

Hello All -   My name is Brad Tingey and I will be the head coach for your daughter’s U-12 soccer team in Region 85.  My daughter, Samantha is on the team.  Sorry I could not be at the Meet Your Coach Day on Saturday, I am out of town with my family on vacation in Utah.  But if you were able to attend, you should have had a chance to meet Jerry Davis, he will be our assistant coach for the season.  I hope you've enjoyed the summer and that you and your girls are getting excited for the fall soccer season, I certainly am!  I coach two teams in U-12 this fall (one boy and one girl), so I’ll be juggling two teams and appreciate your support.

Right now, the emails are only going to the primary account holders from the AYSO Blue Sombrero website.  If there are others that should be added to my email group, please check the email list if others need to be added.  I will also text as needed, so please make sure I’ve got your mobile numbers.

One of the items I'd like to discuss/confirm is parent volunteer positions for our season.  I know that during registration that each family may have volunteered for something.  Positions we'll be looking to confirm: assistant coach, 3 referees, team parent, field representatives, snack bar and communications.

Practices are scheduled to begin the week of 8/28.  After Labor Day, we will practice twice a week, probably either Monday/Thursday or Monday/Wednesday or Wednesday/Friday for 75 to 90 minutes.

Given that there aren't assigned practice fields from the Region, we may need to be somewhat flexible to find a time and a field that has enough grass for us to get the practice needed.

I had hoped that SVUSD was going to allocate an elementary school field to Region 85 but that didn't happen, so we're going to try to practice at one of the fields listed below:
Lake Forest Sports Park
Foothill Ranch Community Park
Regency
Borrego

Each of these fields has pros and cons.  The big pro for the Sports Park is the lights, which allows us to have practice a little later.  The other falls have the negatives that we will need to move when there isn’t adequate light to practice safely later in the fall.  We will find something that compromises both.

We will start with Foothill Ranch Community Park on Tuesday, August 29 at 5:30 pm and we’ll run until 6:45 pm.  We will have a brief 15 minute meeting afterwards.

Our second practice will be Friday, September 1 at 5:45 pm at the Sports Park.  We’ll run until 7 pm.  I know its Friday of a holiday but that’s what I can make work this next week.

I will post the upcoming practice schedules next week for the week of Labor day.  I can generally be flexible but next week is tough with my flexibility.

The game schedule hasn't been released yet, but hopefully we will have that released soon and first games are on 9/9, so we will have two weeks of practice before our first game.  Some of the need to change the schedule will be based on my schedule.  I will post the practice schedule on the AYSO Blue Sombrero site.  In lieu of a Shutterfly site, we will try the one provided through Region 85.  This is the same one where we registered this year.

I will hand out uniforms at our first practice and assign the numbers by general height and size of the player.  The league has provided each player with a jersey, practice shirt, shorts, and socks.  We use a Size 4 ball in U-12 and reminder to make sure your child has shinguards and soccer shoes.

As a reminder, please stay aware of all things Region 85 by visiting the region's website at http://www.ayso85.org/, which includes information around picture day and other relevant information.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you and the kids.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email, text, or call me at 714-943-5223.    Thanks again!
