Colts Wallop Wallace

The first Saturday of Fall 2013 was a gorgeous day. Plenty of sunshine, clear skies, and a gentle subtle breeze...perfect for football. The 8U Atlanta Colts took the field against the 8U Wallace Park Falcons.

The Colts received the ball first. The first drive started very promising buy quickly fell a part with a series of wing back exchanges resulting in loss of downs and loss of yardage while in the red zone. Wallace Park Falcons struck first with a 65 yards touchdown run with a host of Colts in pursuit to no avail all the way to the end zone. The first quartered ended with the Colts down 6-0.

Never a sense of worry or panic, the Colts regrouped. The defense must have been insulted by that TD run because for the remainder of the 1st half Wallace Park struggled to get ball out of their backfield. "FOCUS!" The chant resounds across Colt Stadium as the 8U Atlanta Colts tighten their chin straps and played their brand of football with heart, discipline and passion, taking a 6-20 lead at halftime including their first pass completion during a point after attempt for 2 points. Number 10 "Fierce" Pierce Juhan stood tall and strong in the pocket while several Falcons were bearing down on him and delivered a strike to the back of the end zone to #20 Patrick Lowe. This connection would repeat in the second half.

The second half was ALL "Orange Crush." Aligned in their newly installed Thor defense, the Falcons and fans alike heard the roar of thunderous hits throughout the second half. The defense was so stifling, you could see the Falcons coach on one knee on the field with smoke seeping from his ears trying to find a sliver, a crack in this united chain of orange and blue, nullifying his offensive efforts. No kinks in this chain.

In an impressive display of re-"focus", your 8U Atlanta Colts ran off 28 unanswered points for a 6-28 victory, remaining perfect on the season.
Come and witness next week, October 5, 2013 at 10am at Colts Stadium, as 2 of 4 Northwest Georgia Youth Football League unbeaten 8U teams are scheduled to compete. Atlanta Colts (5-0) will host the Rockmart Yellow Jackets (5-0).
