U10 Boys
5/15 v. Glastonbury
"Our
boys in blue played a tough game against an unfamiliar foe. Both teams
unaware of each other’s weapons played a strong friendly match in
Glastonbury on a warm Saturday afternoon. Our boys played a physical
and experienced team, but we answered with an extreme amount of courage
and effort ending the first half 4-3 in our favor. We fell flat in the
second half as Glastonbury was able to score 3 more to end the game 6-4.
Although we were down two players, our boys played a great game and
had fun in the process. There were plenty of teaching/learning moments
from this game that helped us in our league game on Saturday v.
Wethersfield.
5/16 v. Wethersfield
In
our first meeting, we lost 7-3 due to some opportunities we have since
fine-tuned. This meeting was much different from the last in that we
have been developing our game strategies and learning from our
opportunities and opponents. Our continued focus on first-touch,
passing (possession strategy), and spreading the field has created more
opportunities for our offense to capitalize on the opposition's
weaknesses. The result of this match being a 6-1 victory. Of course,
there is room for improvement, we are getting better with every match
and training session."

U15 Boys
"Once
again our first game, Friday night was canceled. Although it was a
league game, our opponent had an early CUP game in southern CT and asked
if we would help them out by rescheduling… so we did.
Our
Saturday game was a CUP game versus a team from Guilford We won 3-1 with
their lone goal being a penalty kick. The entire team is committed to
defending and we are developing into a sound defensive team. All of our 3
goals were ‘team’ goals as the ball was touched by several players
before being ‘one touched’ into the net. One goal was scored by Anthony
Bieszzad… his first-ever! A hearty ‘well done’ to all the boys."

"Saturday
we had a Cup game against Guilford. We were very proud of the effort,
teamwork, and communication our girls utilized during the game. We were
applying pressure when Guilford had the ball causing disruption to their
attack. Guilford won the game 3-1, their 3rd goal coming as the final
whistle blew. Overall a lot of positive takeaways from our play
including Guilford coaching staff complimenting our girls on their style
of play.."

U11 Girls B
"It was a big soccer weekend for our U11B girls.
On
Friday, we had a well-matched game against Burlington. They struck
first with a free-kick goal. Newington battled in the 2nd half leveling
the score. We created a few more opportunities but weren’t able to find
the back of the net. The game finished 1-1.
Saturday was our,
first-ever, cup game. This was by far the toughest team we have ever
played. South Windsor capitalized on a goal directly from a corner kick.
Our girls played their hearts out but were ultimately outmatched. We
lost 4-0.
Sunday we played our last league game. We went down in
the first half against the run of play and equalized before halftime.
The Blue Devils dominated the second half scoring 4 goals and winning
5-1 to keep us undefeated in our division. "
