The minimum age to become a Referee is 13 years old at Registration.
NEW REFEREE / ONLINE Grassroots Training will open July 2, 2022
Please create a profile on the CSRP Referee Registration and also at the U.S. Soccer Learning Center. The first and last names on both accounts must match exactly.
After creating the profiles, please log into CTREFEREE.NET and register for the clinic. (use the video link below if that's easier to follow) Once logged in, scroll to "Clinic Administration" and click "register for referee clinics or events". Scroll down and click "please select event type" then "clinics/courses". Please choose the April 30** clinic and click "I agree" both times. There is no payment at this point. Payment will be made at the Learning Center. After enrolling in the clinic you will receive a confirmation email with more information.

In addition to the coursework at the Learning Center, New Grassroots Referees are required to attend an in-person session with a USSF/CSRP Instructor, and a virtual meeting.
**The April 30 clinic isn’t real. It’s just a room where all the contact information for all the candidates is stored.
On July 1, 2022 everyone who registered for the April 30 clinic, will be sent a link with instructions on how to proceed at the US Soccer Learning Center.
Note: The three steps above should take about 10 minutes total
For those that may wonder, the entire process takes about 9-10 hours:
- 4-5 hours at the learning center, at the candidate’s own pace
- 2-hour live field session, which will be scheduled and part of the registration process
- 2-hour virtual meeting, which will be scheduled and part of the registration process
Anyone who registers for, and completes the certification process will be licensed and ready to work games when the season starts in September and all of 2023.

- $120
- If over 18, an additional $30 for background check
- Referee Kit – ~ $60 includes: Uniform, Flags, whistle and Referee book with red and yellow cards
