The Pink Unicorns Chronicle 8/29/17

Loveland OH- 8/29/17 Tuesday 6:30 pm Wet field but sunny

The Pink Unicorns 2nd game was against The Loveland Navy.  The game started off fast for the Pink Unicorns who held possession on the Navy side of the field for almost the entire first quarter.  However, they could not sneak one past the goalie with shot after shot.  The Navy must have had thick steel on the side of their ship that the horns could not penetrate.

Tied 0-0 in the 2nd the Unicorns once again with great defense lead by Mystic Fury (Paul) and Fluffy Jr (John) keep the Navy from reaching their port of call until Sparklehorn (Trey)crushed a left footer into the goal.  The Pink dominated again but could not take advantage of many opportunities in front of the goal.  They did have some great ball movement and got some hustle plays from some of the smallest unicorns Jellybean (Rob) and Lightning (Michael) at the left wing with touches back into the middle  Pink Fluff (Brennan) showed off his speed running down the ball and made some really beautiful passes.

After halftime the 'Corns moved the ball beautifully.  We saw through passes from Glitter (Burke) to Princess (Levi), nice decisions from Wild Myth (Sebastian), and Sprinkles (Pierce).  Sparkles (Hans) showed off his versatility and hustle by playing right wing and left midfield.  He was able to make it though the armada and get nice passes back up front.  The 3rd quarter ended the same way it started 1-0.

In the 4th quarter the Unicorns were finally able to put some holes the hull of the Navy. Pink Flash(Voegele), Glitter, and Sparklehorn all score.  The Navy shot a salvo but Mr. Cuddles (Jason) was able to keep them from getting a shot on goal all game. Unicorns keep their unbeaten streak going, now 9-0-3 in regular season play.

Coach Voegele said after the game, "last game we struggled with passes and aggressiveness, but today we had crisp passes, good ball movement, and hustle. We still have a long season to go and a lot to improve on, but I like that we are seeing improvement in every game and practice."
