WELCOME TO TEAM RIPTIDE!!

WELCOME TO TEAM RIPTIDE 2017!   Be on time (5 min prior) to practice and (30 min prior) to games! Encourage one another and other players! Lead others by positive examples at practice and games! Inspire one another with your words, prayers, and actions! Eat well; what you put in, you will get out!  Limit junk & sugar! Victory only comes when we make right choices and execute well! Expect to get back what you give to soccer and life!   Parents:  Please know how fragile this age is to coach.  As every age, and with anyone, if we break hearts we break spirits.  The score does not matter! Learning does! Please refrain from using your child’s name at practice and games.  I need their attention.  No matter how difficult it is, (it will be), please do your best not to shout out to them.  Please direct cheers of good job, well done, nice pass, AFTER you see something, and never tell them what to do or when to do it at any time! (pass, dribble, cross, shoot, etc.) Please bring them on time (5/30), and pick up on time (5)!! Please VOLUNTEER to be practice chaperones – no chaperone/no practice. Please VOLUNTEER to stripe fields, bring snacks (1/12), etc. PLEASE encourage your child regardless of his/team’s performance/score. Please, please be present at your child’s games!  PLEASE HAVE A GREAT SEASON!   1. Avoid ‘coaching’ from the sideline while watching your child’s game 2. Do not criticize the referee – THIS IS HUGE – I AM ONE!! This is an epidemic, we should realize that referees are people, volunteers, and will make mistakes — even those officiating at the highest levels of play. When parents go after a referee for what they perceive as a mistake, it begins to be about the adults rather than the kids. 3. Focus on the benefits of the game rather than the score! 4. Think when interacting with opposing fans – be kind! 5. Don’t stress out – FIND SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE - REGARDLESS!! 6. Save issues with the coach for the next day – I’m always here for you! Players:  Welcome!  You are all old enough now to prepare yourselves for soccer! Don’t blame anyone else for forgetting your shin guards, ball, water, snack, etc.!  Get in the car in plenty of time to be on time, ready to play! FAMILY FIRST! (school, church, etc), FRIENDS, SOCCER! DO YOUR HOMEWORK – KEEP UP YOUR GRADES!!  NO EXCEPTIONS! NO CELL PHONES – NO EXCEPTIONS!!  (TIL AFTER PRACTICE/GAMES) BE KIND AND RESPECTFUL everywhere! – NO EXCUSES/NO EXCEPTIONS!! NO GIRLFRIENDS AT PRACTICE – NO EXCEPTIONS!! NO SWEARING – NO EXCEPTION!    HAVE FUN – NO EXCUSES – NO EXCEPTIONS!!
