WAA Sports Center Grand Opening Announced!

WHEATLAND ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES GRAND OPENING

OF THE NEW WAA SPORTS CENTER!

The Wheatland Athletic Association (WAA) invites its volunteers, coaches, participants, staff, and the entire community to celebrate the Grand Opening of the WAA Sports Center, located at 2323 Liberty Street in Aurora. The event will take place at 10am on Saturday, November 21st at the facility. The newly renovated Sports Center opened for programming and rental on November 2nd

Following brief remarks by WAA board President, Dr. Lawrence Gentile, and others, the Center will officially open with a ribbon cutting and light refreshments. Guests will have the opportunity to tour the 30,000 square foot facility, which features a state-of-the art synthetic turf playing surface and courts for basketball, futsal and volleyball. The Center will also house WAA’s administrative offices and storage.

“This new facility will greatly enhance the participant and spectator experience for WAA families, and we are thrilled to see several months of planning and hard work finally come to completion,” said Gentile. The WAA Sports Center is immediately adjacent to WAA’s outdoor soccer facility and walking distance from WAA’s Baseball and Softball Training Center. WAA also partners with public agencies and private facilities to meet the needs of its participants, including local school districts, the Fox Valley Park District, Naperville Park District, and Wheatland Township.

WAA is approaching its 40th year of service as a non-profit, and serves over 15,000 participants, both youth and adult, in soccer, baseball, softball, basketball, flag football, and other activities. The association has no specific geographic boundaries, but many participants reside in Naperville, Aurora, and surrounding suburbs. WAA is home to Team Chicago travel soccer, Wheatland Ducks travel baseball, Wheatland Spikes travel softball, and Wheatland Wizards travel basketball. The association is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, and relies heavily on volunteer coaches.
