A NOTE FROM THE REGIONAL COMMISSIONER

AYSO REGION 106 has been serving families of Lakewood & Bellflower, CA for 36 years! In all that time, we have been a completely volunteer organization. This keeps our costs low and ensures that the folks managing the program are here because they want to be!

AYSO REGION 106 is a great community organization. Lakewood & Bellflower have about 155,000 residents. Getting involved in a youth organization is a great way of bringing a small town atmosphere to what would otherwise be a large city.

AYSO REGION 106 strives to teach the children of our community how to play competitively, while playing fair. We want our children to be good sports whether they win or lose.

The six AYSO philosophies are the core of how we do that:

EVERYONE PLAYS – means that every player will play at least ½ of every game. Plain and simple, everyone gets a chance to participate.

BALANCED TEAMS – means that we form teams as balanced as possible, because it is fair and more fun when teams of equal ability play.

OPEN REGISTRATION - is practiced by opening registration to all children between 4 and 19 years of age who want to register and play soccer. As long as we have space available on teams within a player’s age group will accept a player.

POSITIVE COACHING – means that we encourage every player to succeed, no matter what his/her ability is. Players enjoy the game more when they are encouraged and players who enjoy the game become better-skilled and better-motivated players.

GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP - We strive to create a positive environment based on mutual respect rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude, and our program is designed to instill good sportsmanship in every facet of AYSO.

PLAYER DEVELOPMENT - We believe that all players should be able to develop their soccer skills and knowledge to the best of their abilities, both individually and as members of a team, in order to maximize their enjoyment of the game.

I encourage each parent to become involved and make their community a better place for them, their family and their neighbors.

We are always looking for volunteer coaches, referees, team parents and board members.  If you are interested, please contact the Boys or Girls Commissioner and let them know you want more information.
