Livermore Fusion U9 Girls Maroon team wins the 2013 Dublin Fall Classic Soccer Tournament! Playing close to home and getting a good night sleep brought the Fusion girls into Dublin ready to compete. Starting out with a noon game on Saturday the 28th, the Fusion U9 Girls got warmed up with a five goal shutout win versus the Dublin United Shamrocks (5-0). After a restful break, the girls came back for an early evening matchup versus Lamorinda United Navy. The Fusion Girls were full of energy and utilize their ball movement and defensive skills to take the game winning 4 to 1.

Eager to finish strong, the girls had an early matchup versus San Ramon Azuri on Sunday morning. The score was tied 1 to 1 for most of the game. The girls were able to advance to the Championship after a thrilling final minute goal put the Fusion Maroon girls up to 2-1.

Parents and players were energized and excited to see the Livermore Fusion girls advancing to the Sunday afternoon Championship Game versus Novato United Green. After an early goal in the first couple minutes the girls battled on both sides of the ball. Before halftime the Novato United girls scored a tying goal to even the match up 1-1. After a tie in regulation play and two scoreless five minute overtimes, the Championship match went in to penalty kicks. In a thrilling finale the Livermore Fusion U9 Girls Maroon team successfully defended their goal and hit their penalty kicks to take the Championship Match, going 4-3 on penalty kicks. Celebrations ensued! Special thanks goes out to coach Matt Caution and the Fusion families for enduring the stressful finale.
