OPTIMIST CLUB OF WINSTON SALEM

About Us

Our Mission Statement:

The Winston-Salem Optimist Club is a civic club of concerned volunteers, representing a cross-section of our community, who are in action for the good of the youth of our community.  Through various projects we carry out, we provide role models for the youth to emulate in realizing the true meaning of success and living life to the fullest.  We are non-denominational and non-political.  Our focus is serving the youth of the community.

We provide an opportunity:
  • to be a young person's hero
  • to be involved with the youth in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County area
  • to make our community a better place to live
  • to meet other civic-minded volunteers sharing the same ideals
  • to work with youth to help improve their lives and self-esteem
  • to improve your own leadership skills
  • to develop social and business contacts with others in the community
  • to prove to yourself that one person can make a difference

Optimist Creed:

To be strong that nothing can distrurb your peace of mind
  • to talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet
  • to make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
  • to look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
  • to think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.
  • to be as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are your own.
  • to forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievement of the future.
  • to wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
  • to give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
  • to be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to  permit the presence of trouble.
