PA Crew Soccer Academy Philosophy

The PA Crew Soccer Academy coaching philosophy is based on long term player development over short term team success. Players learn, develop and understand the game by being instructed with age appropriate directions and instructions. Players are encouraged to become “magicians” with the ball and apply their own creativity.  PA Crew Soccer Academy philosophy is built upon Coerver Coaching and is based on the premise that the game consists of sequences of plays between 2, 3 and sometimes 4 players, in various parts of the field, and team success is determined by the player’s collective performance in these exchanges.

PA Crew embraces this method as it gives ownership to the individual player. The responsibility given a player applying a thought, idea or execution of a skill creates an environment that fosters the motivation to continually improve and excel. By emphasizing their creativity and individuality, players learn to make logical decisions. This allows them to remain less stressed and ultimately, develop a vision and execution for the game at the highest level.

PA Crew emphasizes the concept of coaches asking a series of leading questions during training and games. The players’ answers can be used as a gauge of their development and understanding of the game. The players will take pride in using their own reasoning and decision making rather than being provided that information. The goal is for the player to recognize their own strengths and weaknesses. They will be empowered to make corrections and adjustments. We reinforce these ideas with small sided games and activities. The end result is the players’ ability to showcase their soccer talents and play with confidence on the ball.

In addition to encouraging creative play, PA Crew supports the idea of simplicity. It is our philosophy through the player’s own creativity, development, decision-making and guidance from the coach, that players develop vision for the game. At times the need for playing the simple ball far outweighs the urge for complex executions. We encourage a possession style brand of soccer and the players’ ability to use their technical superiority will prove successful over time by having confidence to hold and possess until a penetrative situation presents itself. Patience, our ideology is long term development over short term success.

With patience, commitment, hard work and perseverance, a rewarding soccer experience awaits you at the PA Crew Soccer Academy.

U8-U10 Academy (Junior)______________________________________________________

The PA Junior CREW Academy program is for players between the ages of 8-10 years old. Our Academy training is based on the COERVER method and its pyramid of player develop. The COERVER method is a progressive program that gives each player the cutting edge training that only Crew exclusively can bring to each of our players. The COERVER program is essential to each players development to build a strong foundation(No one else can offer the the world's number one soccer skills teaching method, the COERVER Method in this area). The Academy program’s emphasis includes the following: individual ball mastery; 1v1 techniques of the world’s greatest players; competitive cauldrons; strength; speed; coordination and agility training; team tactics; and small group play.

The Junior CREW Program's focus is on the individual development of each player. The Junior Academy is designed to give each player a maximum number of touches on the ball to increase development at a rapid pace. Although games and competition are an important part of the learning process, players during games are only touching the ball for a limited time compared to a training session. So we use the games as a gauge to see where they are at in their development and develop the corresponding training sessions based on their weaknesses and emphsize their strengths.

If you are looking for more than recreational, travel, or just a regular soccer club, this advanced program is for you.The Fall and Spring Outdoor Academy sessions are held at the CREW Fields. Academy teams training sessions are twice a week in the Spring and Fall outdoor seasons. Each Academy team will participate in the PA West League. The Winter Indoor Academy training sessions are held at CREW'S very own Indoor Training Facility which is just for CREW players which allows CREW to offer all its players more training time and programs at no additional costs. This means there are no programs a la carte, everything is all-inclusive from speed and agility, ball mastery, 1v1 moves, finishing, and goalie training...

Academy teams will train twice a week in the Winter Indoor Season during November-March. Each Academy team will also participate in the GaReat league for all indoor games against teams from Ohio, New York, and Canada.

U11-U14 Program (Intermediate)__________________________________________________

PA CREW'S intermediate program is the next progression in our program. The intermediate program continues to use the COERVER method for technical training. We as a COERVER club view the game not just as an 11 v 11 contest on a whole field but as constantly changing sequences of play between two, three and sometimes four players. Team systems are important, but they are only as good as the individual players in them. Players cannot compensate for poor control or inaccurate passing and shooting. We believe that individual technique and small group skills in attack and defense determine a team's success. COERVER Coaching therefore focuses on individual skill development and small group play. CREW aims to offer this proven philosophy to all players. CREW players at this stage have built a strong skill foundation so it is in the intermediate program that we start teaching team tactics and strategy. We focus on proper ball movement and teach a possession style of play.

The Fall and Spring Outdoor Academy sessions are held at the Crew Fields. Intermediate teams practice twice a week in the Spring and Fall outdoor seasons. Each Academy team will participate in the PA West League. The Winter Indoor Academy sessions are all held at Crew’s very own Indoor Training Facility.

Academy teams will train twice a week in the Winter Indoor Season during November-March. Each Academy team will also participate in the GaReat league for all indoor games. Each Team will compete in 2 tournaments in each of the Fall and Spring Season. One of the tournaments in the Spring will be the PA West State Cup.

U15-U18 Program (Senior)_______________________________________________________

The senior program is the last progression of CREW'S curriculum. The Senior Program continues to use the COERVER method for technical training. We as a COERVER club view the game not just as an 11 v 11 contest on a whole field but as constantly changing sequences of play between two, three and sometimes four players. Team systems are important, but they are only as good as the individual players in them. Players cannot compensate for poor control or inaccurate passing and shooting.

CREW believes that individual technique and small group skills in attack and defense determine a team's success. COERVER Coaching therefore focuses on individual skill development and small group play. CREW aims to offer this proven philosophy to all players. CREW players at this stage have been introduced to different tactics and now we continue to introduce advanced tactics with different systems of play (4-4-2 with flat back 4, 4-4-2 with stopper, 3-5-2, 4-3-3 to ensure all of our players are able to make different in-game adjustments trying to neutralize the strengths of the opposing time and exploit our teams strengths. Knowing different systems of play allow our players to be able to fit into anyone's system and it is especially important for college when they will have a new coach and may be asked to play in a different system.

During this time period is important that our CREW players start thinking about playing at the collegiate level. CREW helps all our players interested in playing at the collegiate level and in that mindset our CREW team's tournament structure is “showcase tournaments”. This permits the college coach to recruit our players. Showcase tournaments attended are up to the individual team and coach. All U15-U18 teams participate in the PAWest or Colonial Leagues and in the Spring compete in the PAWest State Cup. The goal of our CREW teams is to move out of the State Tournament, into the Regional Tournament and extend the season by making it to the National Tournament.

The Senior Program officially begins in January and continues through June or longer depending upon each team’s success. All CREW teams will have two indoor training sessions and will compete in the GaREAT indoor soccer league. Each team will also have two outdoor training sessions and will compete in multiple Tournaments based on each team and age.

The Senior Program is a half year commitment starting in January. All outdoor training sessions and home games are held at the Crew Fields, while all indoor training is held at Crew’s very own indoor training Facility. Your fees cover the following:
